Range: 20.00 A Resolution: 0.01 A Accuracy: +/- [2.0% + 5] I take that to imply the range is 0.01-20.00 A. see less

No, the probes are used to measure voltage. You must use the "clamp" feature to surround the wire you want to measure the current flowing through.

Yes. Turn the selector to the ohm symbol, and then you can press the 'Select' button to cycle it to diode check and continuity tester.

Ok, that answer previously given is incorrect. The question is about reading INSULATION on a meter. That answer is base on fining shorts, and current flow. This meter can't help you with your INSULATION reading, you would have to use a MEGGA meter for that.

Yes, you can use it to check DC voltage and current .

If you want to be that good you need to spend about $500. If you want good readings for normal usage this will work.

You can only clamp one leg at a time. So you cannot clamp both legs. For instance, Assuming the conductor type is Romex, you have to separate the hot and neutral wire and clamp just one. Or how do know you have current flow?

It will read up to 600 amp at AC 60 cycles . probes will measure ac /dc voltage at the lower end of the unit ( a small multi meter ). No frequency or wave displays . Specs displayed in the Ad show more detailed limits .After looking at the Eaton PW site I think it will work fine and cover your needs for a meter .

I purchased this to check whether I had a dryer that was going out or a bad breaker. It worked fine and I was able to save the money on a new dryer as the amp clamp showed that the dryer was not pulling an excessive amount of current when the breaker shut off. It certainly isn't a high end device but for the money is a good bargain for routine troubleshooting.
