No you use leather or balsam wood to strop. This is a sharpening stone

That would be very hard .I would not try it and then shave with the blade .

The red side is 3000. The white side is much smoother. It does a good job polishing my tools.

Neither side is labeled but you can feel a distinct difference between the grits. Red is the 10k I believe. The stone comes oiled. I've been using it fairly regularly for a few months and have not had a need to lubricate it yet.

The product description clearly was from a non English speaking. The size is metric. I never checked the source though.

Try letting the stone soak in some water with a little dish soap for a few minutes. Rinse the stone off and dip it in the soapy water occasionally while sharpening.
