These are proven emergency designs, and incredibly lightweight and compact. This is a 5-pack at a great price. These are also sold in 10-packs, 20-packs, 50-packs etc, and the price per unit gets incredibly cheap as the lot size increases. In an emergency, plan on using AT LEAST two blankets per person. Good emergency protection, and amazingy versatile--blanket, ground cloth, windbreak, tarpaulin, sun shade, solar reflector, emergency signal, insulation wrapper, sleeping bag cover and also sleeping bag liner. Google it and you'll be amazed how many things you can do with these. They measure 52" x 84", which is standard. People often ask how reflective they are. They're not intended to be used as a signaling mirror, but you I'd say they are about as bright, and as visible from the air if unfolded flat, as an equivalent piece of sheet aluminum. In some applications (lining a solar water heater box, say) you would get better results from aluminum kitchen foil, but these will still work. This is a 5-pack at a low price, cheaper than you'll find them at most discount stores. Distribute them around wherever you think you'll need them--car, home, cabin, canoe, boat. They come individually wrapped, and they'll also fit in a ziplock bag. Good to prevent shock, and important to have for anyone who's accidentally gotten soaking wet or fallen overboard in cold weather (such as the couple we pulled out of the Potomac in February when their canoe capsized in stiff winds). Bulk buying is definitely the way to buy these. Retail, they are $3 to $6 apiece. I hope this review is helpful as you comparison shop online. Stay prepared and have fun, everybody.
