If the power lines are far enough away and not transmitting a high current load you shouldn't get a reading. The big huge transmission towers can show high levels of EMF. The lines to your home shouldn't show much. Old fluorescent lights and old CRT monitors can leak a lot of it.

I originally bought this to analize the EMF around a new home I was considering purchasing. Fortunately there was no risk with this home, but I decided to start testing various things around my house. All I am going to say is stay at least 6 Feet away from your microwave when its running.

It seems that it works. Maximizes alarms on aquarium filters and dosing. Being abandoned in the rain was also saved. It seems that no emp sun was found. I put it next to my GMC-600 PLUS Geiger counter and did not register anything when the radiation shot 10 times more than the normal background.

I tested the EMF radiation emissions from my mobile phone, normal home phone, laptop, modem and router, refrigerator, microwave oven, indoor fan, outdoor power cord, truck board, etc. After use, I will never stop at the high-voltage power cord. I'm standing in the kitchen while using the microwave oven. After seeing EMF strength radiating the strength of these devices, I use the keyboard connected to my laptop. For the same reason, I also use the speakers on my phone instead of my ears. If you want to stay away from the EMF radiation peak radiation range, even the refrigerator, the radio and the fan must be close to you. I also learned that the phone will never turn off. Even if you remove the battery, they will emit an explosion of radiation each time you move the battery. That test surprised me.
