My old crimping tool having given up the ghost, I decided to take a complete kit with interchangeable jaws. Well I am not disappointed! Where before you needed 5 or 6 different pliers to do everything, I now have a simple pocket with two pliers. Test of the crimping pliers with insulated round lugs: perfect, no complaints. Stripping tool test: perfect too. It can even without problem strip the sheath of a multicore cable in a first pass, then the wires themselves in a second (see my photos).

Bang for the buck this is good enough for most crimping. I wouldn't like to make 100's of connections with this, but it does get the job done. Also note that, like many of the crimpers from China, the color coded die set is not as one would expect (e.g. yellow seems to be for 22-18 awg, and blue is for 12-10 awg).

Not bad for the price. Crimper does a good job on your standard red/yellow/blue 10-22AWG crimp connectors (although crimping 10 or 12 AWG requires gorilla strength). I tried them on some smaller connections and didn't have much luck. The jaws are fairly easy to change out with the included tool. As for the strippers, again they're just OK. They just kind of grab and tear the insulation off and you have to adjust them to get the right pressure for different wire gages and insulation types. It gets the job done but isn't fantastic.

This was bought as a gift for my son who is studying as a apprentice mechanic. He spends a lot of time wiring and only had access to some cheap wire strippers and crimpers, which he complained was making what should be a straightforward task into a difficult one. The carry case is a nice touch and helps keep the tools clean and dry in his tool box. The case also has little Velcro sealed pouches to stow the interchangeable terminals. There's also a S2 screwdriver to change the terminals. Quality wise, the metal workings appear to be of a good quality and the tough plastic handles also have soft padded areas for griping. My son has used them quite extensively with no issues and says they're performing well. Overall, I'm completely pleased with my purchase. They perform as described and my son no longer complains about this aspect of his fledgling apprenticeship. Five stars.
