If you want even further sound quality, I would recommend the batter powered 'active' version. However, this mic is still great. A lot of high quality YouTubers use this mic and also recommend it. I can definitely assure you, it's a major improvement from the stock mics on any camera.

My husband and I purchased this item as an accessory for our camera to help make video compilations for weddings. We have also decided that this is a quality item for recording music and also different YouTube videos for his business that he can update his customers on what's going on.

While not super powerful, it works great as a fill light or to replace a bounce board on faces in bright light to remove shadows. The thing that makes it great is its size. Easy to pack, holds a charge, runs a long time depending on the level selected. Nicely packaged and documented.

This mic is clean sounding and incredible. You don't even have to plug it into a separate recorder. As long as your camera has it's own mic input, just plug this microphone directly into the camera. Just one tip. When you use the camera's pre amp system with the mic, turn the microphones volume all the way down, and then select the 20+ on the mic. That way the sound is coming directly through the mic, not the camera making for cleaner audio with no hiss.

If taken care of your mic will last a LONG time! I have had this one now for a couple of years and it is still working! It picks up awesome sound! My suggestion though would be to watch a few tutorials on how to set the mic and the levels on the camera, once you got that down it picks up sound nice and crisp!
