When this camera is working it's amazing. We use it for work for taking progress photos on the jobsite. Last week for some reason the WiFi quit working. Notice in the picture the slash threw the WiFi icon. I have done everything shown on Reddit and YouTube to get it to come back on, (used different phones and iPads, put them both in airplane mode and turn on WiFi manually, try to force it manually in WiFi settings) but nothing works. I believe this is a hardware issue as discussed on a few forums. I wouldn't be as upset as I am if support was responsive. I reached out to them three times in 7 days, and have yet to hear back. We're lucky to have another 360 camera on site, but picture quality isn't the same. It's frustrating that we purchased this product less than three months ago and it's already having issues. Not only issues, but zero support from the manufacturer to fix these issues. When it's working it is amazing, but stay away. Will definitely not buy this camera for another project.

I would say this is a fun and interesting 360 degree camera. Insta360 one X is definitely one of the best 360 degree cameras in the market. It is equipped with variety of features such as bullet time, time lapse, tiny rolling planet etc. I have been using Insta360 one X to do my Vloging, and it has captured every exciting moment of my life. The insta360 one X IOS app is user-friendly to use. The app itself is easy to use, everyone should be able to edit the videos with a quick learning curve. However, I did run into the issue that the camera will freeze multiple times during my video shooting. Not sure if my camera is defective, but it often freezes after several seconds of video shooting, and I would need to restart the camera all over again. In addition, the wireless connection from the camera to the cell phone is not very stable. It took numerous tries to get the camera connected to the Iphone. Some recommendations that I would hope to be included in the next upgrade of insta360 one X is the water-proof feature, and longer battery life. The battery life of 45 min of use is definitely not enough. In addition, I am not able to zoom in or zoom out while editing the videos. Hopefully, this can be fixed in the next firmware or camera upgrade. Overall, my experience with Insta360 one X is mostly positive. Even though I did run into technique issue that camera will freeze multiple times. However, if you are looking for a great 360 camera to begin with, I would recommended this product.

Purchased the ints360 for family adventures. Used it once at seaworld, unfortunately after coming back and seeing all the video clips, I noticed some weird blurs from time to time. Lets say a two minute clip, the odd flickers happened about 10 times. Im guessing the UPS throws your package left and right caused the camera to malfunction. It was lacking some bubble wrap aswell upon delivery. Have sent it back for a refund!

The main use for this camera was for recording of activities and shows during a long family vacation. We have had this for about a year now, and it has been nothing but problems with it. The camera appears simple to use with only 2 buttons, but I quickly found that what I though would start the video would actually change settings or do something else. I didn't find it to be intuitive at all, and often got confused when trying to quickly activate it. During use, I found that the camera got very hot very fast, and whenever it heated up it the problems would start. So far the problems I am routinely experiencing: Overheating Frequent lockups of the camera and the app Lockups during long recordings that lead to lost video A strange purple mask over one of the camera views, which is recorded in video but not photos, and makes the 360 useless. Very short battery life - around 40 minutes tops. If you are considering this camera, I would not recommend it. NOTE: I am currently working with support to address these concerns, but as of yet there are no solutions other than formatting the memory card, trying different usb ports/cables, and making sure the app is updated. Nothing to address the overheating, the non-connected lockups, or worst of all the purple screen.

Always a lovely experience when you have everything prepped and functional, but then you think its a good idea to apply the latest update in the Istanbul airport before you finish your travel to Nepal to volunteer to provide water treatment to remote schools and towns where you are possibly the first outsider allowed there. You were wrong. You have now bricked your device and advised to use a computer troubleshoot a problem. Luckily, I took a GoPro and got stunning footage. The best camera is the one you have with you that works RELIABLY. Even if there are certain advantages this may have over others out there, look elsewhere for a reliable product for adventure traveling.

I wanted to like this. It had lots of great reviews on the web. But there were just too many shortcomings: 1) The battery only lasts an hour. This is pretty standard for action cameras, so I don't really ding it for that: I just bought a big external battery. However, 2) Even with essentially unlimited battery, the camera can only record 2 hours (128 minutes) on the largest memory card that it accepts. My bike rides are often longer. Well, maybe I could switch after a couple of hours, although that would be awkward. However, the first time out, 3) It just stopped recording after 30 minutes. When I noticed some time later, I restarted it. That session was 7 minutes long. I *was* using the recommended sandisk card. 4) The display is impossible to see outside. Not just in the sun, but in the shade. Not just in the shade, but with your hands cupped over it. It's really only viewable indoors. 5) I thought maybe I had done something to accidentally turn the camera off, so I tried to review the footage. On the phone, you cannot position the video to the end. Even if you manage to convince the software to point near the end, as soon as you hit play, it jumps back to 0, and the scrubber takes multiple swipes to move forward even a minute, so scrubbing to 30 minutes--let alone 2 hours--was not an option. So I installed the PC software. 6) On a relatively powerful laptop (i7-6650U), the software was virtually impossible to use. Buttons didn't respond--or took seconds to respond--the video and audio stuttered, and was frustrating overall. Oh, and *spoiler* I was nowhere near the camera or its buttons when it shut off, the road was smooth, and it wasn't that hot, so it wasn't something I did. 7) I couldn't find a way to connect the camera to my phone via bluetooth, which I read was necessary to get GPS information embedded. There's a bluetooth icon, but connection fails. I asked support, and they just pointed me back to the FAQ, which doesn't have any information on that. It may be that the camera only works over WiFi to the phone, but if so, they could have said so. In the end, it was too much frustration, too little reliability, too many restrictions. When I'm riding, the tech has to "just work", and this didn't.

This camera is perhaps the most vexing product ever released to the photographic public. The ergonomic layout of its buttons and control screen is oversimplified to the point of generating false starts and lost shots way too much of the time. For instance, the screen is so dim that no amount of shadowing will allow you to see and view its status in outdoor day conditions. You CAN view its image in real time on your WiFi equipped phone but but you will need three or four hands to do that gracefully. Video mode is NOT(!) its primary default mode, but that’s why you bought it. Plowing past Still Mode options for every attempt to simply shoot motion causes frequent errors. Loss of images is frequent. It worked at first through comprehensive tests, under home conditions, then failed frequently during a trip abroad in real world, get-that-shot conditions. Until the control software’s foundational organizing principles are rewritten from scratch, save yourself a large dose of grief. When it works and edits successfully, results are amazing. But I’ve left out date issues, filing issues, stitching issues, card issues and exposure issues that await the user. I am a writer of digital camera ebooks from the dawn of digital photography, who bought this expecting what YouTube showed. About 30% of that expectation and 5% of potential trust in the product is what I got.

This is supposed to be an action camera, something usable when it's cold and wet. While I love the camera features and the software, the device is basically unusable in the winter. If it's cold (<0C, <32F) the battery will only last about 10 minutes. You can put it in a warm place in between uses, but this only extends battery life by a few minutes. The device also is not waterproof. There is no sealing and the charger ports are exposed. It may be ok if splashed lightly or exposed to mist. But any wet conditions (including snow) will eventually damage the device. Finally, the build quality of the device is quite poor. The camera lenses protrude and can be cracked easily if you are not careful. The outer shell for the device is not securely connected to the electronic internals. If you drop the device, it could shift the charging port or SD card slot.

This thing has been difficult about the insertion of the memory card. Today the memory card is stuck. It will not go in and it will not come out. This design is awful. So I am in Viet Nam and back to my GoPro7. I have to wait till I get back to the US to try to coach the memory card out. I may just do a video review (using the GoPro) of me just tossing this junk into the mekong delta. Sad thing is that I also purchased the dive case (cause venture case is not out) and have had problems finding spare batteries. When I was in Japan a few weeks ago I went to BIC camera, they have everything. Except the current version of this junk. So no spare batteries could be found at perhaps the largest electronic retailer in the world. An expensive item to be so useless. Contacted customer support and automatic response indicated responses will be delayed due to Chinese new year. That sure puts up the red flag. Then when I got a response it said sorry venture case was not out yet. My question was not even about the venture case. This company and their product is useless.

This cam has so many issues, it’s flimsy and cheap. Meaning once I had it out I dropped it on my carpet (with padding) and found that it started pulling apart, I was able to snap it back in. The picture is horrible and I say this because I own a RYLO that blows this out of the water. I really wanted to like this product, since it is supposed to do 360 live. Well last night at Disney I connected it to my phone and went “live” but the whole show was NOT recorded even when the system said I was live on Facebook. None of what I was “live” for was posted. Literally pissed, thank God i had my RYLO recording. No happy with the cam, sending it back. Only thing I wanted it for was the 360 live feature. The picture quality is ok and offers goes to a fisheye view (I know I can correct this, but shouldn’t have to do this all the time). I have taken this to a few spots, seems to post all pics to insta website for others to see, the you have to repost from your camerA to any social media.

The problem I had with this camera was that using its Insta360oneX studio, to convert videos to MP4, it would not export video with a picture, just sound. I was on chat with their tech support for a few hours. They asked questions about my computer, ect. Finally they wanted me to download a program that would allow them to have control of my computer. That is mental. No way. I have read online how others have had the same issues with no solution. The Studio is still in beta, so they obviously rushed this to market before they got the bugs out of it. I would wait a couple years to buy it, by then maybe they would get their act together.

I was so excited to receive this camera that I could hardly wait. Well, things aren't always what they seem.... The insta360 One X video/picture quality on the insta360.com website was phenomenal. In real life... Not so much. The stitching line is very visible when ever there is any movement. Since this is video that's usually the case! The focus is constantly changing and is especially bad around the perimeter of the field of view which is one reason why the stitching looks so bad. So far I am thoroughly unimpressed. Either my camera is bad or the sample videos up on the website were made using a totally different camera system. I'm very interested in hearing what others have to say. One more note. The LCD display is totally useless outside in daylight making it very difficult to operate without guessing.

Ordered the camera for a birthday trip. The camera ordered came used, and that’s fine it said minor cosmetic scratch on front. I was fine with that as long as the camera works and is clear and the buttons work. I get the camera and the box looked like it was ripped open and threw back together. THE WORST PART WAS THAT THE MINOR SCRATCH WASNT JUST THERE BUT ALSO THE CAMERA LENSE HAS A HUGE OUSTER CHIP ON IT THAT YOU CAN SEE AND ON THE VIDEO YOU RECORD. I am extremely disappointed that they would sell this like this.

This has the potential to be an excellent camera... but it was released while still in (early) beta and MOST features did not yet work. The software was HORRIBLE. All of those things, I expect, will be corrected in the coming months, but when purchasing a product, I expect it to work as advertised WHEN I BUY IT. That said, the hardware is excellent, and the image quality was very good. HDR Processing was slow (app based), and I would really like to have seen file formats that were not proprietary. Having to convert each image from "their" format to an industry standard (jpeg, DNG, MP4, etc) should be automatic and fast. There was a lot of hype about this camera, but I couldn't wait to send it back after having it a week or so.

This camera exceeded my expectations in terms of the ease of use, picture quality and what you can do with the software. It's amazing how effective the stitching is, how well it hides the selfie sticks (except in shadows), etc. And what's truly impressive is the seamless way it automatically compensates for whatever the angle of the camera is to maintain a true vertical orientation. It's like having a camera the size of a remote control with a built-in gimble. But the gimble is all in the software. It leaves open endless possibilities. Unfortunately many of these possibilities are as an outdoor action camera. That's what most of the videos from the company show, so it's clearly their marketing intent. Yet you couldn't safely do most of those videos without risking destroying your camera. Unlike most of its action cam competition, this comes with no protective case and as of now the optional case sold by the company (the Venture case) still isn't available to the general public, 9 months after the release of the camera. Which is ridiculous. They really shouldn't be selling the camera if they don't have the ability to offer the case since it's really a must-have accessory for the vast majority of practical uses for it. I bought this to use on our annual vacation to record our activities like jet skiing, dune buggy racing, etc. But I'll have to leave it at home (for another year until our next trip) because any of those uses would destroy the camera without the phantom case. To be clear, they do offer a "dive case" but their own site stresses that's optimized for underwater use only and to get the Venture case for all-purpose use. The dive case can distort your images above water. The site acts like the Venture case exists and just suggests a long shipping date. But this is a lie. They have yet to ship the case, many months after launching it, to the general public. They have only provided them to vloggers, reviewers and early adopters from last fall who had their previous case that was recalled. Since then, anyone else is left with a product good for a few safe gimmick uses in their house or yard but not something they could use in the wild. My advise is hold off buying this until they really have the must-have case available to get at the same time as your purchase.

Ok..this has a TON of potential but it falls really short. Mostly because its made more for iphone and support for android it super limited. You can take some nice video with some cool effects and basically come up with an entirely different video from 1 recording because you can edit post video. Is it worth $400...meeeehhhhhhh...not really. I mean...GOpro is now doing the same thing with the effects but its still only that 1 angle...which is where 360one x stands out. Other than that...the software KILLLLLLLLLSSSSSS the whole experience. Its not user friendly and its limited in features....even more less if you have android. The app basically functional but a night mare to deal with...not to mention the connection wireless and even with a cable randomly disconnects. The file sizes are 5gb or more so you will need a ton of space on your phone (because there is no way to save to your phones sd card directly)..you will run out of space pretty fast. I have a note 8 and after about 4 videos between 5-10 min...I was full. my full review will take way too long on here but i will post an overall experience on my tube channel

Pro: awesome video that is stabilized while moving. Pictures were varied quality and sizes but generally happy for most pictures. Con: batteries are not the same as a go pro so you have to buy some unique/proprietary battery to get more than 20 to 30 minutes of filming. The little screen easily broke its carrying case in a bag. Very poor quality in low-light condition. My biggest complaint is using it on a selfie stick. You can't really use it on one of them much. Contrary to YouTube clips a self stick is not hidden in the video. Secondly the unit base is cheap plastic which easily broke hiking with a self stick extended with the camera at the end. That means you can put it on a selfie stick but you just can't walk around with it on one that far because the forces of moving it can break the base. The phone app is fine. I wish the desktop program would be better as there are no editing functions for videos there.

So, why did I leave a 3 star when I say is a great camera... Well, Because hopefully I will come back in about a month and add one star then add another by early 2019. The camera, resolution, quality of image and video and pictures all great, it is what they say, shoot now, point later Is a great camera to record pics and videos and "always" be in the picture So, why docking stars...the app and the PC/MAC App...buggy, not there yet, lots of limitations and many "work around" Yes, is usable, the team updates the cam and the apps almost weekly...but again, there are many limitations that should have been ironed out prior to the release, like having to set you phone into airplane mode to connect the camera. Is an action camera....is a 2 protruding lenses action camera...yet, here we are...no case available for it yet, site keeps saying "soon" Not even a stand or somewhat to place the camera while charging or moving files, other than a pouch that the minute there is a bit of dust in it, will scratch the lenses. Whoever approved the final design, while is a awesome design, should have added a case and stand...yet, none is available H.265...nope, not available You are basically forced to use the app for everything, yet, no 5K video from it and no GPS tag....unless you buy another non existent (yet) accessory...wich we still waiting for. Battery life...ok, if you are lucky...I got 43 min max... want a spare battery...as noted before...not available yet Durability, again...is supposed to be a "action" cam, yet...no way to protect the lenses, any simple scratch and you have a $400 paperweight...again, would be ok with a case...or better if someone will come up with lens protectors. Make sure you have a fairly new smartphone with plenty of internal memory, as the app WILL NOT save to SD card, so basically for all of us with awesome 256 gig cards installed, they are useless as every time you same a pic of video, it goes to internal memory iOS folks, you are in luck, you can use any mobile device... phone or tablet... Android...we are limited to mid to top end phones and tables...good luck finding one that meets the minimum requirements.

Insta360 one x has below issues. 1. Video quality is not clear, and the color saturation is poor. This is definitely a few levels below the latest market expectation. 2. Selfie stick cannot be invisible. This occurs even after the angle of the camera and the stick are aligned, and making sure that the base of the camera is small enough in its are. 3. Insta360 one x has this infamous red flare. However, what I was not expecting is the frequency of them. They appears in the video too often - very annoying. 4. The difference of the brightness and the color is too noticeable on stitch line. This can be mitigated by chancing the camera angle. However, if I do so, my selfie stick cannot support the camera wait, and Insta360 tilts down. 5. Battery life is short - about 40 min?
