Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.
This Autofocus Extension Tube Set (12/20/36mm) for Canon from Micnova contains three tubes of different length, a 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm, which can be used individually or in any combination to obtain the desired magnification.

Do not look at the sun or a bright light source through the lens with an extension tube mounted, or through the camera with a lens that has an extension tube mounted. Doing so could result in loss of vision. Looking at the sun directly through the lens with an extension tube mounted is especially hazardous.
Do not leave a lens with an extension tube mounted or a camera with a lens that has an extension tube mounted under sunlight without the lens cap attached. This is to prevent the lens from magnifying the sun's rays, which could cause fire.
