This is a very basic starter kit. It is great for students and peole just starting out. It is not for professionals or serious photographers. It will be a nice place to start if you have never used a backdrop and want to try adding lighting. The carry bag is nice and sturdy, which is a big plus. My last kit had a bag that fell apart, so already this is showing marked progress! The lights are nice and I realy like that there are the two types of umbrellas included. It allows you to play more with lighting techniques and see what works best for you. Careful though, these umbrellas are a bit flimsy. Mine fell over and the spokes dented immediately. They were easy enough to bend back in shape, but tipping over lightly should not have had so much of an effect! The poles for the backdrop kit are terrific. I love that you can play with the length and that there is a super long option. Pluses on that. They are pretty typical and will hold up nicely for a beginner. The big disappointment here arethe backdrops. They are super cheap material and arrive folded. I probably will never use them as they are not a quality I would use to shoot with, fortunately I have others from my last kit. This is a solid kit if you do not know anything about shooting with backdrops or lighting. Definitley good for starting out and experimenting. I will keep this around for the youth photography program at the theatre and maybe small events. This is also a greta kit if you want to set it up and leave it for video background.

This is a basic light kit, suitable for small projects. The backdrops are very thin, you need to make sure they are up against a wall, or layered so as not to let light through, or else get different backdrops. They are also not "pocketed," so the clamps are needed to hang them, not just hold the sides. You'll want more clamps. The frame is light-duty, and I wouldn't suggest using heavy backdrops (like vinyl) with it. Overall, though, this kit is great for hobbyists, or as a beginning kit to be added onto later, as is my plan. Very light and portable, too.
