I found this plate will fit on a Manfrotto base, but a Manfrotto plate will not fit on the Douself base, so the parts are not 100% interchangeable. I returned mine for another brand.

502hd can take any plate. I use Manfrotto plate with my slider and it works.

Overall, this thing does what it should. For all the parts that matter, it is in fact metal. For the price, this thing cannot be beat, but for the price I guess you cannot expect perfection. Pros: - Simply put, it does the job, and it's a very solid piece. The bubble level is a great addition, although I think it may be off just a tad bit. Cons: It seems to suffer from a lack of development during the design phase. Something to expect with a piece this incredibly cheap. - The release clamp adapter itself would be just that much better had they put a hole on the bottom middle to catch the safety pin of another plate. In other words, I'd like to have a way to make sure it remains straight on whatever I mount it to. Instead, it's mostly milled out with a support beam directly in the middle. - The 1/4" and 3/8" screws have very shallow slots, meaning it's difficult to turn them with a screw driver without stripping the head. I'll be buying better screws. - The last two are easy to live with, my last con is the most difficult to accept. While they claim you can use the base plate on a Manfrotto head, I've determined you cannot use a Manfrotto plate on this clamp. The safety release mechanism does not move far enough for a Manfrotto plate to slide all the way on. I can live with this, but if you cannot, you need to find a better design. In conclusion, it's great for the price, but it has its flaws. I will be buying at least one more and a set of replacement screws.

Solid metal construction, very high quality. Only problem is the red tightening lever will be blocked by most DSLRs and older camcorders attached. A better design would have ensured there's no protrusion above the level a camera would be attached, or make the twirly handle smaller. it's good though and doing its job so I am happy with it.

I like this quickrelease. There is one big issue with it though. It DOES NOT fit my longer 502 plates even though they have the same width as the smaller 701 plates. It's no problem to me because I just use my smaller plates on my camera, but be wary when purchasing this for that reason.

I purchased this to have an extra QR receiver on my Glidecam. I use Manfrotto 501 plates, and they were perfectly interchangeable with this plate and receiver. The QR receiver is made of solid aluminum, and had two 1/4" 20 threads on the bottom, as well as a 3/8" thread. The two 1/4" 20 threads aligned perfectly to the cheese-plate holes on the Glidecam HD1000, although be aware that the unit does not come with any mounting screws. (It does include both a 1/4" 20 and 3/8" screw to attach to your camera, and you could use the 3/8" screw from the plate if needed). I liked that the unit is solid, with a firm release button on the left and tightening screw on the right. The tightening screw had the right amount of travel, with 1/2 turn between being loose enough to let the plate slide in and holding it firmly in place. The extra bubble level on the side is also helpful if you use this plate with a Glidecam, giving you visual feedback on how well the unit is balanced. Note that the "official" 577 receiver has 1/4" and 3/8" receivers on the side of the unit to allow mounting of accessories, which this unit does not. However, for Glidecam use, I actually prefer the simplicity and weight of this unit over the Manfrotto.

Just used this for the first time since buying a while back. Fantastic little product, folds down and easily stored in my backpack. Was quick to put up and change the required colour reflection and my helper deftly got the hang of it to produce a beautifully lit photo of my kids playing in a field of rapeseed. Was quick and easy to fold back down and stow away inside the carry case with just two turns of the wrist. Highly recommend this for the keen amateur photographer, worthwhile investment especially considering the cheap price!

I purchased one of these without a great deal of optimism, given the price. In general, when you buy camera gear at bargain basement prices, there's a reason for it: most of it is cheap junk and you're better off shopping around for a deal on the name brand. That said, this piece blows me away. I received it in a thick, padded envelope and actually thought it was something else because it had some surprising heft to it. I opened the package and was surprised to discover that this thing is 100% metal from end to end. Typically in this price range, there's a fair bit of plastic, or shoddy screws or some other annoying thing, but this is not only all solid metal, it's also really well machined, with smooth edges. I've regretted a lot of low end gear purchases, but not this one!
