I just asked the person who I gave this to as a gift and this is her response; I love this clock. It does have a ticking sound. It's in my living room so I can only hear it when the TV is off. Well made and a great gift.

The clock is adorable. I rated it only three stars because 1) it was packaged very poorly...it was simply put in a plastic bag then in a box. No packing at all. As a result, the plastic clock face cover and black ring that holds it in place was lose in the bag. The second hand was mangled up and I had to straighten it with a pair of needle-nose pliers. 2). The cat's eyes are incredibly uneven...one way up and one way down. 3). The cat has to sit on a slant on the shelf because the left paw hangs down too low.
