I purchased a $40 LED on camera light and the power button and dimmer both broke. The batteries all fit poorly and had to be adjusted to get the thing to work. I threw it away after using it twice. This light is much more professional. Can rotate between color temperatures and has a nice dimmer dial. Looks more professional and high quality. Spend the extra 30 dollars and get this light!

This light has been fantastic, I have used it as a key light, fill light, hair light and as the only light source for shots. The controllable dimmer and colour temperature has been a god send allowing me to match the current lighting conditions as well as to not blinding talent while getting nice and close. The fact you have the choice between AA batteries and a Sony battery makes this very flexible. I have found myself draining the Sony battery and switching to AA batteries while the Sony battery recharges. The only thing it seems to be missing is the ability to plug the light into power directly. When using it as a key light it does need to be quite close to your subject, I used it for a close shot on-location where I had no way of powering my normal 1,000 watt lights and it did the trick but is no replacement for your normal lighting scenario. As a hair light it is a little difficult to position if you don't have a spare tripod to mount it on. Also I found myself restructuring the set to use it this way as it still needs to be within a couple of feet of your subject. I see myself using this light more in the field and as a back-up. I see this light being of great value for nightclub video shoots and other areas with dark ambiance where you need to camera mount a good and flexible light. I highly recommend this light.

Appears to eat AA batteries pretty quick, but they seem to come back to life a little when you give them a rest. Still using the same set of batteries I first popped in, and I've used this thing for several hours worth of shooting. Color temp is awesome, and I love the brightness control. Very tempted to buy a few more of these nifty little guys.
