The title says X5C-1 but the image of the white one is the X5C. I just ordered two of these and am going to return them if they are not the X5C-1 model. Can anyone confirm that the white one is the updated X5C-1?

It appears nothing is different except the props. The colorful props don't seem as durable though.

I can't review entirely yet because I haven't flown it yet. What I did want to let everyone know is to be sure to purchase the upgrade with extra batteries. Drone was delved today, quality seems great for the price. Upon reading manual, I noticed that the battery flying time of the drone itself is only 6-7 minutes. Then it takes 75 min to charge. I bought 2 drones for my nephews as christmas presents and am glad I opened box to read about the battery. Today I purchased 2 of the upgrade kits and they won't be in stock until Dec 6. Hoping they arrive before Christmas. I think the kids would be a little disappointed to only get 6 mins of flight every hour and a half if not for the upgrade.

So, I saw a brief article somewhere mentioning how much fun this was. Having never owned a RC aircraft of any kind, I ordered it and it arrived quickly and intact. First couple of flights resulted in some substantial crashes but the Syma survived OK. Subsequent flights also included crashes, a recovery from a tree among them, but it survives still. After ordering I thought about trying it out and possibly getting one for my 8yo grandson as well as he loves RC toys. Well, I won't be doing that. It does take some considerable finesse on the controls to keep the craft going where you want it to go, especially the throttle. Beyond the abilities of most 8yo I suspect. It is very light so any amount of wind really blows it around. But, it will handle some wind if the pilot is sufficiently skilled. I haven't quite arrived at that level yet :-) In summary, if you want to try out a quadcopter, this is a good place to start, especially at the price. The camera works OK but don't really expect HD. Vids are pretty grainy but it's fun to see what your piloting looks like from the craft's perspective. Now, I'm thinking of what quad to get next! Quick update... After a dozen flights or so, one of the motors failed. Apparently they are easily damaged if a prop is prevented from spinning with power on, for example in event of a crash landing. So, if you crash it, immediately move throttle to OFF position. And, buy a couple of replacement motors. Giantex is going to replace my quadcopter bit I'll be prepared to make future repairs as needed!

I like to research my RC toys before I buy. I look at Price; Plenty of spare parts at cheap price; Reviews from buyers; At online vids on flying & comments. I'm impressed by Syma toys on lots on spare parts for reasonable prices.I first bought Syma X5C because of good reviews & lots & lots of spare parts. I wanted to buy X5C-1 but it looked like it had a lot less spare parts. I got X5C on sell for $ 43.00 . X5C-1 was $ 55.00. When I got X5C in the mail i was so impressed that I ordered X5C- ! . I found out that the X5C-1 is exactly the same as X5C except the Box & what I heard is different software in circuit board. Even the markings is the same as X5C ( The X5C-1 is marked X5C ) ( Box is marked X5C-1 ) Also the controls & charger & battery EVERYTHING THE SAME. I had to marked mine with a felt pin a 1 to tell the difference between the two. I found out you can make your X5C into a X5C-1 by ordering on Tomtop for $ 10.00. new updated circuit board. I have only flown mine indoors . ( Its winter ) I gave it 4 stars only because I could not fine tune the controls good enough so X5C or X5C-1 to hover off the floor in one spot without useing the right joy stick. Also I have not flown outdoors yet. For the price its a great for beginners .

Once you figure out how to fly it. Its a lot more fun . Took me a while to find answers on the web. The book that comes with it does not tell you half of how to fly and get it so you can control the thing. I found this video online that help me finally get it where i had control...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhLMbq3LkrM .So if this is your first drone..I would do a lot of homework and look up anything you can on this..Also learn to start off on low not high..Learn all the buttons and mode 1 and 2. Still learning I just got this a week ago and just now got it in control. Took some pictures and video they were very good . Still learning about that too. So more homework for me....Over all not bad would give 5 stars if they would had more information in the book ...also do order extra batteries, They just last about 7 mins before you have to charge it. They did come with extra blades found mine 3 days later on the bottom of package after ordering more..but so far did not have to change them even after 20 crashes and stuck in trees. This thing is very durable...Have fun good luck..

This little drone is awesome. It is light, portable, and very very easy to fly. I am completely new to drones or anything remote controlled and I can fly this thing easily indoors and outdoors. It can take a LOT of crashes too, especially with the prop guards on. The only problem it has while flying is that if it's windy this drone is so light that it will easily get pushed by the wind, and it also automatically drifts backwards because it is front weighted from the camera. So it can't just hover in the air, you constantly have to push it forward a tiny bit to keep it straight. I never really use it to hover though, so it's not really an issue for me. I got this to practice flying a drone and taking video, and I knew this camera wouldn't be good enough quality for actual photography so I have the x8c as well attached to a 4k action camera, but MAN the camera on this thing sucks. Again, I didn't have high expectations and I only use this for practice, but honestly. It says the camera on the x5c shoots in HD! It does not at all, the video is very grainy and dark. Also, the sounds of the drone flying is so loud that you can't hear anything in the video. I've shot video of my sister yelling into it and it just sounds like mumbling, you cannot distinguish words. Thats the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, other than the crappy camera which is supposed to be "HD" this drone is awesome and I love it. Very easy to fly, user friendly, stands a lot of crashes, and just really fun!

This drone is absolutely amazing for the price, if your are just a beginner in flying drones this is a great way to gain experience before you buy a top notch expensive drone. It is really easy to get the hang of things and it extremely fun. Let me tell you about some of the Pro's and Con's. Pro's - Price: Cant find a drone with his much features for such little price Ease of use: You could pick this thing up and learn as you fly. Safety: Right when your about to leave the controller range the lights on the drone will flash telling you that your to high, also the controller tells you how much battery it has left. Camera: Great when its light outside, you can record or take pictures from a button on the remote. I always record and it always turns out good. Included: I like how Syma includes extra propellers and propeller protectors in the box, so far i never snapped any of mine. Cons - Battery: The battery should be a lot bigger in my opinion, there is a lot of empty space inside the drone, i think the could have made room for a bigger battery. It lasts about 5 mins with the camera on, 6 with the camera off, and about 8 if you take off the camera. Propeller protectors: The propeller protesters always come off at the slightest crash, i made sure i screwed them in tightly. This isnt a big deal for me because i took them all off when i got better at flying. Stability: I've had to ask my neighbors to get my drone from their backyard because a little gust of wind knocked my drone over to their fence. This inst really a big problem because i was flying high in the middle of the winter in December, (and I have cool neighbors). Manuel: I dont read the Manuel on a lot of things i buy, but for once when i was trying to figure out what all the buttons on the controller do i was shocked because most of the English on the Manuel dont make sense so i had to learn what the buttons do on my own. Overall this is a great drone for the price and you cant go wrong with it. This would make a perfect gift to a kid of any age. I will update if anything happens to this drone.

This quadcopter so far has really been impressive! Ive only flown it 3 times since its arrival but so far it has already passed my expectations I made when I decided to buy a cheap $50 r/c quadcopter. I haven't had a single problem with its performance other than the cheap plastic used for the landing skids and blade protectors. So far they have surprisingly held up even after my first test flight but the skids partially broke at the white pegs that you insert into the copter for me and only due to user error and roughly landing on hard ground from high up. Luckily if you were already thinking about that during your purchase like I did you would have of most likely bought extra blades, blade protectors and skids for it, and the best part is you can get all that and extra motors for under 10 bucks in a package deal! Even with the partially broken skids i can still take off fly and land without further damaging them now that i have the hang of the throttle control. I gave 4 stars due to cheap plastic and the battery cover for being kinda difficult to open without fear of breaking it or the camera attached to it. Other than that it is more than worth its price I think and I recommend it to anyone who has little to no experience with flying r/c copters as the perfect starter/higher experienced r/c pilots. I will do a follow up review when it sees more flight time to say whether its still worth it or not but I don't see it changing my mind since the availability and price of replacement parts

I had this product for appx. 2 weeks, and I flew it everyday. This is THE STARTER DRONE you WANT to purchase for before if you are wanting to buy a legit, more expensive drone with nice capabilities. I purchased it from Tomtop, and it got here within a few days. It's ready to fly right out of the package and takes minimal instruction manual reading. Most of us in the drone hobby see these types of drones to be the starter drones, a drone you can really hone your flying skills which is essential; you don't want to crash a $700-$1400 drone because you didn't know how the joysticks on your remote control steered the actual quadcopter. This thing is SOLID! It's motors are power compared to what you expect, and the camera is much better than the SYMA X5SW FPV model (<----------this model is NOT worth it). This camera is super decent compared to its price. This quadcopter's controls are super responsive. Just be watchful of your distance of your X5C from you and your controller, because you will lose control if you do. I got mine stuck about 40 feet up in a tree in my front yard, but was able to get it down by throwing a football at it! It feel flat on the ground and was effected by none of it. It flew fine after I got it down. Its battery gives u about what you should expect: around 10 minutes of flight time. PERFECT for a 1st time drone user or a child. Peace!

This is an excellent quadcopter. It's very stable in flight, can move very quickly when you want it to, and has plenty of power. It looks very good, withstands multiple crashes well (I've had quite a few, not broken anything, yet...), and one of the best things is the spare parts are plentiful and cheap! Quite often you may find a quadcopter that seems like a great deal, but finding the spare parts may be exceedingly difficult. As well as quite often the parts quickly become obselete, and stop being manufactured. I've had several RC helicopters which after 6 months to a year, finding spare parts for became impossible. This quadcopter comes with everything you need. Copter, controller, battery, and charger. The flight time is about standard, 7-10 minutes depending on how aggressively you fly it, and whether you have the camera attached or not. Great for beginners to learn how to fly. The remote has 2 settings, a low and high mode. The low makes the copter not move as fast, the controls gentler, perfect for close quarters or slower flying, and for learning to control the copter. High mode makes the copter respond aggressively to controls, for much quicker flight and handling, more suited for outdoors. The only downsides I've found so far have been that the copter has around 50, up to 75 feet of control distance before it loses signal. And the instructions are horribly written in broken English, al,osteoporosis impossible to understand. But you can find plenty of info online from others. I highly recommend buying a spare parts pack, and extra batteries with this, so you're not waiting forever for the battery to charge between flights, or for a new propeller to come in if you break one. Both can be found very cheap, 6 pack of batteries and charger about $20, spare parts pack with everything from 6 sets of blades to extra motors about $20. Overall I highly recommend this copter!

I love, love, love this quadcopter. I am new to flying quadcopters, but I am having a lot of fun flying the X5C-1. I received this drone for Christmas 2015 and I manage to carve time out of my schedule just about every weekend to practice flying. I have flown toy airplanes and toy helicopters, but flying a quadcopter to definitely not the same experience. Rotating the drone is a huge adjustment because I was use to left/right and up/down controls, but now you add a rotate control. I would not classify this quadcopter as a toy, but it is great for people who are have been curious about drones, but don't know where to start. The X5C-1 has two mode levels of controls, a "Basic" mode and "Expert" level. You should stay in Basic mode until your have experienced flying outdoors with a little wind. Another reason this is a great quadcopter is because the price will not break your pockets. As a bonus, you also get a 2MP HD 720 camera that uses a micro-SD card. The video quality is much better than the image quality, but not bad for the price. If you decide to by this drone, then I would also recommend buying additional batteries with charger. BTG 3.7V 680mAh Battery 6PCS & 6 In 1 Battery Charger for Syma X5C X5SW X5C-1 X5SC X5SC-1 If you are looking to learn how to fly a drone and eventually go better and more advanced, then the X5C-1 is a great starting point. You will not be disappointed. If you happen to fly too high and you lose it in the wind, the good news is that you didn't spend a few hundred dollars.

Great first step into the Quadcoptoer world with camera. My first step with a quad came with the Husban X4 and loved it. Decided after seeing a deal pop up on a slightly larger quad with a camera to give it a shot. Jumping up in size slightly from the X4 was very easy as the controls are the same for the most part outside of a few additional buttons. As with most Quads, be patient and get comfortable with the controls before just throwing these things into advanced mode. It is very responsive when in this mode. I did knock one star for camera quality, but I did know this going in that it was not GoPro quality. Don't expect movie quality images in 1080. Best description i can say is think of this as a camera phone from around 2008 or 2009. Maybe even compare it to an early 2000's webcam. There is no return mode or headless mode. Once this thing is out of range it will input remember the last input and use that for a few seconds before just dropping out of the sky. Edit- 12-14-15 After some flying and trying to get a feel for the camera angle, it is definitely angled a little to far down. simple fix is wedging a very slim piece of light packing foam between the battery door and battery. I then used a very thin piece of Velcro to wrap around the body and secure the door shut aiming the camera more forward. Doing this allows a more straight forward view while recording. The addition does not appear to add any noticable weight to the quad copter and does not hamper the controls in any way.

After only one week I crashed mine into the very top of a 40 foot tree. I attempted to get it down but couldn't. It stayed at the top of the tree for 3 days while it rained. I ended up getting a 20 foot long pole, climbing up into the tree and was finally able to break my drone free of the branches. I thought for sure it would be completely ruined. Either from the water damage or the repeated blows it took to get it down. However I let it dry for 24 hours then put in a new battery and it fired right up! I've been very happy with this drone so far. Although a word to the wise, this is not a drone that is meant to be flown high in the air or in heavy winds. If you try getting too high or too far you will lose connection pretty quickly. Best to keep this guy below the tree line. Oh and definitely buy a few extra batteries. I think you need at least 2 extras(I bought four and am happy) because the default battery only gives you 6 minutes of flying time and then you have to go inside and charge it!

I've had this for about a year now. This little thing is fun. For the price, its a great way to learn to fly. The camera is great. Mine got ripped off on a tree though. The drone itself is lightweight plastic and doesn't always take too well to crashes. I bought a few extra batteries as each battery only lasts about 7-8 minutes. To increase flight time I took the extra weight off of the blade protectors. Be aware that the drone itself is very light weight and any wind will easily take it off into no where. I've had mine stranded in my neighbors tree for a few months.

So, I'm completely new to the quad flying thing, this thing is awesome. Very easy to learn on, once you figure out the controls. A couple times outside I took it up beyond my comfort level ( got some great pictures) when I felt it was getting away from me I killed the throttle and let it fall back to the ground at about 100 feet I throttled back up to full recovery, no issues, complete control again. As far as durability, fantastic, I've bounced this thing off of everything possible (trees, kids, walls, ceiling fan, cars, roof and 1 very moody harrier hound...) had it stuck in a tree over night, threw a football and knocked it down, new battery and it was good to go. Only knock against this thing is battery life, buy the 4 600mh batteries and charger for them and enjoy, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.......

With so many drones out there I wasn't sure which kind to get but came across this one and liked the features and price so I figured I would give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. This was a gift for my almost 12 year old son (and husband). They have been playing with it everyday since receiving it and it has held up GREAT. I would also suggest that you fly this drone in a very open area because it goes really high and can get stuck on top of roofs. We live right across the street from a grocery store and the drone flew right on top of the roof. It happened on Christmas morning so we had to wait until the next day to contact the manager to get on the roof and get it. They thought it was pretty funny! The drone is really easy to fly and maneuver. It only took my son a few flights to get the hang of it. I also want to say how durable this drone is. It has seen it's fair share of crashes and it has held up nicely. CON: The battery does not last long and takes forever to recharge. I would suggest investing in a few extra batteries so that you can play for longer than 7 minutes at a time. It's such a bummer to be flying the plane and then have to stop because your battery dies. We also haven't been able to download the video shot from the Drone because it's not compatible with the computers we have. Not sure if this is something that is an ongoing problem with other people or just the fact we don't have the right software. But either way it's a bummer we haven't figured out how to see the photo and video footage. Overall this is a great drone for beginners or people used to flying drones. It goes much higher and farther than I had thought, which is great.

The quad is super stable and very easy to fly. My first remote controlled flyer of any kind and I'm already buzzing around the living room with no problems. 4 stars because of 2 issues. The battery connection on the quad is horrible! It is impossible to fully insert the battery and get a solid connection. This is because the connector in the quad is simply 'slotted' in place and it is free to slide away from you as you attempt to snap the battery terminal in. Further the plastic shell of the quad will interfere with full insertion even without the sloppy fit of the connector. I actually had several battery connectors get burned from the arcing of this connection after only a couple flights. Luckily I spotted it and resolved it by unslotting the quad connector and just letting it hang openly in the batt compartment. The other issue is with the SD card. I think mine is faulty. I tooks a couple of pics and a short movie and then viewed them on my PC. No issue. Then I took a quite long video (295mb) of a flight. I was unable to transfer it to my PC. The USB kept disconnecting from Windows (not disconnecting physically). Windows event view showed that the device has 'bad blocks'. I tried to format the drive with Windows but it will not complete the format successfully. I'm ordering another SD card to test with. Once again. Fly's great. Watch out for loose batt connections, and good luck with your camera. I bought this to learn to fly with, not as a video platform (thats just a nice to have for me). It seems it will do that job perfectly and for $50 is hard to beat.

Ok I got this 3 days after buying it. I was not supposed to get it for another 2 weeks. And I was super happy. Even tho I was worried because after I paid for it I realized that the pic shown was not the upgrade but the original. It came today in the upgraded box and was the upgrade. I seen a lot of reviews saying that the original was what they got so I'm supper excited that I got the one I paid for. I've watched a lot of videos comparing this with the original and everyone said this was the best. The only downside is that it's a rainy day so no fliying yet cause I've never flown one and am too scared to try it inside. Good thing I'm practicing on my mini drones. Nothing was broke all pieces were shipped and looked pretty well packaged. Don't miss out on this drone. Great product great buy.

Very good for the price. I previously purchased a different quadcopter for ~4X this price that performed well at first, but then the motors started burning out and I had other issues and ended up returning it. This one is a little bit smaller than the previous but flies just as well as the much more expensive one did before it had the problems. I didn't expect to see the colored lights on the bottom to help identify the direction the quadcopter will fly or to add to the usability at night, so I was pleasantly surprised. My first time flying this, I took it out without the guards for the propellers and ended up bending a propeller. I was able to bend it back without breaking or compromising the propeller, but there are also spares that come in the box. Altogether it performs well, but it does seem pretty fragile--very thin and weak plastic throughout.

Okay, this will be my second order for the X5C-1 Quad. Even though I've flown many types of planes in the past, this is a different animal all together. By the way, this is not a toy in spite of what it says on various posts. I just flew mine into the woods never to be seen again about an hour ago. I started getting cocky and that is a bad thing to do with this quad. The Syma X5C is one of the best quads on the market. I've tried 4 others only to send them back. This beats all the other I've flown due to its smooth flight, ease of control and a pretty long battery life. You do need extra batteries though. My advice is to read the manual and practice many times before you go above 40 or 50 feet and that's flying in an open field. The hardest thing to learn for me is turning the quad 90 or 180 degrees.
