Can it be controlled by other transmitters, like Spektrum DX6i?

A
  • As far as I know, you cannot use the Spektrum transmitters for the WL V911. The Spektrum transmitters will work with most Blade heli's and quads.

It can fly in a city that is located at 9000 feet above sea level?

A
  • Hi; I would say yes but. The Alt. might limit flying time due to the density of the air at your Alt. You might want to pick a larger, more powerfull Helo to compensate. If you buy one. I hope Im right.

seller sent wrong color chopper, ordered black, got white, the cheaper of the choppers (if I wanted the cheap one, I would have ordered it). chopper works ok but some reviews said black was better. arrived on time. seems to need trim to keep it from spinning in circles, but other then that, workable...UPDATE... returned and got black. works great, takes a little getting used to, did what others said, put shrink tube on tail motor to keep wires from getting broke, works great. fast little chopper, so be light on the controls and you should not have any problem. take off quick and you wont crash trying to get it air-born.... keep flying and have fun

Where to begin. This thing is loadsss of fun. Imo this is the next best step from a 3 channel infrared coax heli. I felt too limited by poor range of the transmitter on the s107g and not being able to use it outdoors. Sooo i got this. Learning curve is a bit steep. Having the throttle and left and right turning on one stick takes some getting used to. This heli is fasttttt. It has two modes. One for indoor and outdoor use. Outdoor use... Is like pressing a NOs2 button or the heli being on steroids. Bottom line buy thissss. Loads of fun

I bought the V911 because of all the reviews I read about how tough this helicopter was. We bought two. One for me and one for my wife. I am 57 years old and my wife is 54. We are still kids at heart. We have had so much fun and laughs with these toys that is unbelievable! These helicopters have taken so many hard crashes and still keep flying. One hard crash broke the balance bar on my wife's but they were cheap to replace so we ordered extras for the future. This morning I went outside with mine and had to switch it to mode 2 to give a little more edge against the light wind that was blowing. As the wind picked up to about ten mph it was a little harder to control. My wife went outside with hers later that day and the wind was blowing a little harder. I tried to tell her it was to much but she had to see for herself. I asked her to wait for me so I could watch. By the time I made it outside she was using the skimmer net for our above ground pool to fish the helicopter from the bottom of the pool. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS! I grabbed the net from her to help her as she is very short. I carefully scooped up the helicopter and as I brought it to the surface just as it cleared the water it took off flying straight up and up and up in tight circles. I frantically ran looking for the controls and by the time I found it the helicopter was way above our 60 foot pine tree. The only control that worked was the throttle. I managed to slowly lower it down and set it gently in the grass. I looked at my wife and she was laughing so hard she was crying. I started laughing too. We sat there and laughed so hard about it that our sides began to ache. Who would have expected it to take off flying when it came out of the pool? We took the hull off and blew off the water and dried it with a hair dryer and put the same battery back in it and it continues to fly like new. This is one bullet proof bird. I would recommend it very highly! A very, very awesome piece of machinery. EXPECT TO HAVE FUN!

Simply put, this thing is stable and durable. It's both a great 4 channel trainer and a great indoor flyer for more experienced 6 channel pilots. I now have 8 helicopters, ranging from the V911 all the way up to brushless flybarless 250 class collective pitch, and just about every other well known 6 channel helicopter in between. This is the best built most stable helicopter I own. I have over 500 indoor crashes on hardwood floors and so far repairs have totaled less than $5. I have replaced one flybar and one rotor blade, both a victim of full speed crashes into a brick fireplace. I bought 5 of the 200mah batteries with it, and flight times are just now starting to get shorter. I'm not sure if it's the batteries or the motor starting to wear out, but either way that is very impressive longevity for both. While this is fast for a beginner helicopter, it is actually much slower than a 6 channel flybarless helicopter. Also if you let go of the right stick, it will self level and hover without skidding, very rare. This is great for new pilots to learn with, or for experienced pilots to practice new stunts indoors on rainy days because they can recover an out of control heli before it hits the wall. I can now do hurricanes, nose down funnels and tail down funnels easily on this thing. Also, you can upgrade this thing, there are how-to's all over the internet. The V911 is compatible with the Turnigy 9x transmitter (much better feel and infinite adjustments, I love mine). I have also done the flybar to paddle bar modification which I use when it's windy outside. Among serious helicopter hobbyists that actually own a V911, it's considered a must have "guilty pleasure" newbie class helicopter. Buy it! Don't sell it if you move up to 6 channel, put it in the closet and break it out next winter.

If this were more expensive, I'd be disappointed. But it isn't so I'm not. The seller I got this from kinda screwed me so I'm annoyed by that for starters. The unit didn't ship for a week and they wouldn't refund me, just made me wait 2 weeks for the thing. I ordered two units. They arrived in good shape, but one of the controllers didn't work right -- the left stick left/right is basically all or nothing. There's a lovely indicator screen which shows stick position, so easy to diagnose. The copters themselves fly pretty well, 7-8 minutes sounds about right for a full charge. The come with two batteries, they're easy to swap out and easy to charge. This is a flybar unit; it's a little more capable than a coax 4-ch copter, but not a LOT more capable. Once you warm up you'll find yourself fighting that flybar. The controller has a 'mode 1"/"mode 2"; the mode 1 has reduced control movement. So mode 2 is a little more aggressive ... That said, any slight breeze is enough to make this challenging to fly. Because the flybar wants to keep it level, it's kinda hard to fight the wind. For the $70ish I spent for two, I don't regret the purchase. But within a week of receipt I've bought a more capable flybarless copter.

I am fairly new to RC helicopters. The only reason I wouldn't rate the Improved V911 a 5 out of is because their build quality isn't 100%. The first one I received had a defective tail motor, so I couldn't fly it at all. That being said, the seller was fantastic and sent me a new one right away free of charge. The replacement V911 Improved model I received works fantastic! Out of the box I was having trouble trimming the little bird, then I realized the flybar (balance weights above the main rotor) was overtightened. I loosened it up, and it was trimmed perfectly right out of the box. I flew it for about 15-20 minutes (3 batteries worth) in my front yard in a light breeze, and it flew wonderfully. If you're experienced (even a little bit) with 4-channel helicopters, you should be able to handle this one. Battery life per battery is about 5 minutes. For those who are learning rc helis like me a few things to do before you fly this outdoors: Make sure you set the main rotor to the long balls on the swashplate so you can get maximum control inputs. Make sure you have you remote control set to high rate (reads "mode 1" on the controller). This little heli should handle winds up to about 3 MPH steady. I found it hard to fly upwind when the breeze got up to about 5 MPH. If you're looking for a greater challenge than a 3-channel heli, and you're not sure you're going to get into this as a hobby, try one of these helis for sure. Definitely take it slow at first though, because, unlike a Syma 107, there isn't any play in the rotors, so if your rotor strikes something it could do some damage to the blade grips, or the main drive gears. Cut the throttle right away if you think you're going to crash. The heli is light enough if you're in grass it should come down safely. I've flown a Syma S107, the WL V911 (improved), a Blade MSR, and a Blade Nano QX Quadcopter. The Blade MSR was a more expensive copter, and was far more difficult to control than the Improved V911. I think the V911 and my Nano QX are now my new "go to" RC Helis. In short: take a chance that you might get a defective one the first time out, and if you do get another one, you won't be sorry. I'm definitely not!

Just a well put together little helicopter. I purchased this as a learn to fly these because I wanted the 912 also. I read that the 912 wasn't a beginner heli, so I wasn't about to just jump into it. Basically, after 4-5 flights with this 911, I've got the basics down and I'm getting more confident with my skills. All that practice is done flying around my living room too seeing that it's too cold outside and the battery doesn't last very long in temperatures that we see in Wisconsin. This isn't a hard heli to fly if you have any hand eye coordination. It zips along pretty well and is just fun to fly. Durability is quite good too and if you do end up breaking something, parts are easy to get and cheap. All in all, don't buy any of those lame 20 dollar helis that take no skill to fly. They're boring and you're going to want something more very quickly cause they're slow and underpowered. This gem has the power and maneuverability to keep ya entertained. I do suggest getting the upgraded version of this with the 200 mah batteries or getting this and doing like I did, ordering the 5 pack of 200 mah batteries right away. With all 7 batteries, I can fly as long as I want without the down time.

GREAT starter heli as a trainer to learn orientation before attempting to fly collective pitch. This fixed pitch 4 channel heli is much higher quality than the 3 channel "toys" you find in malls or Radio Shack. The flybar stops the heli when you let go of the sticks, making mode 2 control much easier to learn. Also extremely durable. I am amazed at the crashes mine has bounced right back from-just remember to cut the motor when losing control or crashing. Do yourself a favor and resist the temptation to fly in 3 channel mode (left stick up/down, right stick forward/back rotate) and keep it in 4 channel mode (left stick up/down rotate, right stick forward/back slide left/right). Should you want to advance in the hobby, learning this will help you immensely. One thing to keep in mind-do NOT try to fly outdoors in anything stronger than a light breeze. Learn on this heli indoors or in calm conditions outdoors, then step up to the higher head speed of collective pitch before attempting to fly in wind.

I'm on my third v911 so I have a couple years with this helicopter. I do like this helicopter however it comes with It's drawbacks. Very important: When you get your heli glue both ends of the tail bar with super glue. The wires are very thin going through the tail and striking the tail on the end will cause the bar or tail motor to sheer the wires. This is how I lost my second helicopter. The plastic in the mechanics are just too thin and flexible(although durable) they will not allow a decent hover and the heli can fly differently after a hard crash. Before you hit a wall, floor or object POWER DOWN and drop. If you allow the 911 to flop around on the ground you will strip out the drive gear in no time-this is my biggest complaint, the drive gear is too thin. Although a blast to fly and well worth the cost I wish they had spend a couple dollars more on making the mechanics more robust. The remote if you are wondering is great: durable, responsive and accurate. The charging setup works to perfection, no problems whatsoever. I do wish there were some l.e.d.s on the outside for night flying. Overall, you cannot beat this price to step up to the next level. I give the helicopter 4 stars for the price and part availability(you can also buy the v911 v2 helicopter only). I would say a little too advanced and unstable(can be compensated) for a child.

I've had more fun with this RC Helicopter than any other RC model anything! I feel like a kid every time I take it out. I've been extremely aggressive flying it into trees and walls and the ground and even the pool!! Yeah I put it in the pool and it still flies. Amazing little bird!! I've put at least 150 flights on this one so far. Now I've added parts and had to do some fixes but they are minimal and it's part of the fun really. The one part that is essential is the black delrin plastic main gear, it took all the vibration away that mine came out of the box with. I got some extra batteries and then burnt up the main motor pretty quick. I suggest a 10 min wait period between flights to let the motor cool off. It's so light that it does not break on impact like many other RC helicopters of a larger scale, excellent for learning a 4ch control setup and a good step from the dual main blade versions out there. Much more nimble and difficult to fly than a 3ch or 3.5ch bird but not so difficult that a newbie couldn't pick it up. Does not take much wind and can be easily lost behind the neighbors house into the swamp on your first outdoor flight thinking "wow this thing really gets up there" If your debating this still I'm screaming at you right now... SPEND THE $40 AND HAVE A BLAST!!! If you outgrow it great!!! It will still be the most fun with $40 you've had in a while.

I bought this V911 for the purpose to fly indoor as well as outdoors, its small size is just right for indoor flight. if you use a IR helicopter like the Syma S107 a very good helicopter but you could not fly it out doors in the sun. And so you need a 2.4 ghz 4 ch. like this V911. I put a 4 star rating because the stock radio controller is difficult to control the helicopter.. it takes practice to control it first you have to balance the swash plate which is not leveled. the first flight the helicopter flies backward. and sideways. Have to make adjustments on the control arm to make the heli take off in a stable hover position. I had alot and crashes to fix the level of the swash plate. the v911 is very durable to withstand a lot crashes. As I finally fix it, it hovers very good. However if you use the stock radio controller takes alot of practice to fly the V911 .. I found out that the v911 works better with the Turnigy 9x makes it easier to fly not mentioning the range distance is more than the stock radio. You have more control using a Turnigy 9x the way you want it to fly. The V911 can bind with the Turnigy 9x easy .. but caution is priority, you have to make adjustments on the Turnigy 9x first before turning on your V911. Set it up first before you fly or else you'll have the v911 runing in different directions with out even touching the stick. How to bind the V911 with the Turnigy 9x and setting it up watch it in You Tube This is very important. You will enjoy this V911 Helicopter. its fun to fly.

I'm a hardcore hobbiest by heart ... meaning, when I pick up something, I do excruciating research before I get into it. I purchased a UDI U13A about a year ago of this writing and have learned the ins and outs of indoor flying versus outdoor flying with that. It has a camera and we have had much fun with it over the past 12 months. This year for Christmas, I decided to get This helicopter along with the MJX F45, V912 and V913. I have a rather large garage and a large game room to fly this and the UDI U13A around. Let me say this, listen to what people on here are saying about using this as a trainer. This is by far the helicopter I use most at the moment. Deadly accurate and stable. Will get you up and running with the larger helicopters rather quickly, but the feel and style of flying between the two classes is by no means a joke...its very real in the difference. This helicopter turns on a dime, allowing you to gain confidence in your skills rather quickly. The larger ones for a beginner will destroy your confidence. In fact, I encourage learning in tight quarters with this helicopter versus larger open rooms to fly in. I now challenge my self not with the speed, but precision of tight quarters while indoors. I have the other helicopters, I want to fly them, I look at them all the time on my shelf. For now though, this is the way to go unless you are just determined to spend money on extra parts as a beginner. For you seasoned flyers...I'm sure your reviews will be much different than what I'm saying. I've not taken this outside at time of this writing due to it being winter with mega winds, rain or snow pretty much every day around here. It is usually like that all the way until June where I live to where it goes to extremely hot and no wind at all..lol. I probably won't be flying this much outside anyway as I have bigger helo's to do that and I'm working up to a flybarless model.

After over 25 years in the r/c hobby (my first cars were the Tamyia Grasshopper and Frog, then through Team Losi & Associated cars and trucks and presently running Traxxas Rustler VXL and Revo 3.3 nitro) I was finally given the chance to get in to the heli r/c hobby through a friend in a trade since I had a mountain bike he wanted and he had 2 450 t-rex copters he was looking to get rid of. I know how expensive the r/c heli hobby can be so my first plan was to get a cheaper heli and practice with it. I know simulations are the thing to get but I like actual experience especially if I want to fly outside. My first one was a Syma S033G which broke the second time in the air and after a few more attempts, the charger failed to charge anymore so it is a shelf queen right now. Also it was almost impossible to fly outside in even the slightest breeze, in the garage it would do ok but I wanted some outside fun. My friend told me that I should look in to the 4 channel micros maybe to get some experience. So after looking around I came across the V911 and read the reviews and looked at the youtube videos and figured I would give it a chance. I have to say that after learning to lift it off the ground on the first battery, it was a pleasure to actually learn how to hover and move it around in the garage. After a dozen or so battery charges, I deicided to go outside and I was amazed at how much control it has over the syma. I can actually fly this thing! Yes the wind will still affect it but it can recover with the right corrections pretty easily. I have enjoyed the V911 so much that I will probably get another one just to keep as a back-up. It seems to be well made and I have crashed it many times and I have yet to break it (knocking on wood). As far as the 2 t-rex 450's? they are still sitting on the shelf and they probably will be for some time since I am really enjoying my little V911! My luck I will take one out and break it on the first try and let it collect dust, haha. If you are looking for a cheap way to get in the hobby you cannot pass this heli up. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

I've had several RC helicopters this size but never a 4 channel one. I had already mastered the flying 3 channel like the Syma S107 and controlling the helicopters had become instinctive. Well the learning curve for 4 channels is a steep one . You have to retrain your brain to make the heli turn with your left hand while at the same time keeping the throttle, also operated with your left hand, consistent. However, after a few hours it becomes a lot of fun. Even though this helicopter looks like it is very fragile, it is very sturdy. I crashed hard so many times that I cannot remember. The only thing that broke on me a couple times is the balance bar, so you may want to order a couple extra to keep on hand since they are cheap and the heli wont fly without it. One tip to avoid this... once you know you are going to crash cut the throttle all the way off as soon as possible as this will prevent the balance bar and the rotor from breaking.. This heli is much, much faster than the Syma 107. It will fly outdoors, but only in almost windless conditions. Even a breeze will not let this helicopter fly very stable because it is so light. The battery last longer than i expected, several minutes maybe 5-7 minutes? and they take more than 1 hour to charge; so I also recommend getting extra batteries. That way you can extend flight time and learn how to operate it quicker. I bough 5 for $6 on ebay and they work great, just make sure you get the right ones because there are two types of batteries for this Heli depending on what model you get. ( evidently there is an old version and a new version but both are the same model number, the battery mount is what changes.)

This is a small 4 channel helicopter which allows you to Move up and down, Move Forward and backwards, Bank (move) left and right, and turn left and right. There are two servos under the canopy which control the forward/backward and bank left/bank right motion. The up, down, turn left, and turn right actions are controlled by the left joystick, and the move forward, back, left, and right motions are controlled by the right joystick. Unfortunately the helicopter I received has intermittent problems with the servo that controls banking left and banking right (ailerons) getting stuck, so the helicopter sometimes either does not bank during flight, or rapidly moves to a side and crashes into a wall. Of course, it is very annoying when this happens mid-flight, but my particular helicopter is, I hope, an exception and a widespread problem with this particular model. I have not contacted customer service about this issue yet. I will update this post with details of how that goes. When it functions properly it is extremely fun to fly. I have flown other RC and IR helicopter ranging from tiny indoor 2-channel ones to outdoor 4-channel ones. I must say that this one is very responsive, although controlling it does take a little bit of getting used to. The helicopter comes with two removable batteries and a charger that charges two batteries at a time. The charger connects to the USB port of a computer or the the cellphone wall charger that accepts a USB cable. I use the latter and so far it has worked quite well. You can get about 5 minutes of flight time out of each battery. I would getting extra batteries, and maybe even an extra charger. You can get a USB wall charger for a few $3 or $4 from Amazon. The helicopter does not have an on/off switch requiring you to yank the battery out when you want to turn it off. The helicopter frame is made out of plastic, but it seems to be quite sturdy. The skids feel a little flimsy, but they seem handle rough touchdowns. I haven't crashed the helicopter, so I don't know how it would hold up with a complete beginner crashing it over and over. The helicopter is radio controlled, instead of IR controlled, which I like a lot because you don't have to worry if for whatever reason you momentarily don't have line of sight. I am giving this 5 stars because it is a fun helicopter, and because I am assuming the servo issues I had with the one I received is an isolated incident.

It's zippy and responsive, charges in a reasonable amount of time, and functions fully across all four axes of control. It's more durable than I would have expected and has taken a few crashes that would make Syma copters cringe. It flies like a real chopper and is a world of fun! It's powerful enough to use outside in VERY light wind, but also agile enough to fly indoors. It's extremely stable and a real pleasure to fly. The only caveat here is that its flight characteristics change as the battery drains, so you'll be adjusting the trim controls pretty frequently. There's a learning curve here, and while it's a little steep for the first couple flights this thing is easy enough to master and a real pleasure once you've done so. The ability to charge the copter batteries from a USB port also saves you a fortune in AA batteries. If you're looking for a toy copter, LOOK NO FARTHER.

This was ordered through my daughters account so it won't list me as a verified buyer. I started with a Syma 107 3 channel which is a fun, leisure inside copter. Very quickly I knew I wanted something more challenging. The V911 is 4 channel fixed pitch with a mode 2 radio Transmitter that will fly outside in light wind. It is very light weight, but extremely durable. You will discover a lot of plastic with a carbon fiber tail boom. These materials are used for weight reduction and to absorb crash impacts. Take my word for it, if you are new to 4 channel you will crash. The good news is it will stay in one piece, pick it up or get it out of the tree and take off again! Flight time is about 6 minutes , but it comes with two batteries that can charge at the same time. Let the motors cool a few minutes between flights. The transmitter has low/high modes that let you fly more aggressive as skill builds. I am very happy with this product and it is a great way to be introduced to 4 channel RC at a low cost. I wish I would have started with this copter rather than the 3 channel as I learned some bad 3 channel habits that have to be unlearned for 4 channel flying. You will be happy with this product.

I bought this helicopter because I am so nervous flying my 6-channel heli and needed something to learn orientation with. This little machine took many crashes before it finally broke. It survived at least 50 flights and nearly that many crashes because I was being quite aggressive with it. I bought it because I didn't want to be afraid to crash it, so I tried a lot of things beyond my skill set, and improved my flying ability. I still have a long way to go, so I'll be ordering replacement parts and plan to keep abusing this little thing until it's completely worn out.

Even without any RC helicopter experience, this is fun. It's so tiny and light, that even when I hit stuff, it somehow survives. All I do is turn off the blades right before it hits anything. I even took this thing as high as it would go, and turned off the transmitter. It fell and bounced off the grass, no damage. If you go all the way up though, make sure you aren't anywhere near tree's. It's so light, that even a tiny hint of wind up there will push it quite a ways. It's taking some practice to learn how to fly it of course, but that's part of the fun. When the battery starts to die, I'm actually a bit better at flying, because there is less lift. The battery life is only like 5-7 minutes as it says. I've actually been plugging the battery charger in and letting it dangle below the controller to charge while flying with the other battery. Thinking of adding a velcro strip (not over the air fins of course), to keep it in place. Of course, you can always charge batteries with the included USB connector with a lap-top, etc. Says for 14 years up, but I think even 10 would be fine.
