You have to go back into your manual and find out how to put your unit into programming mode and add whichever fobs you want programmed

Sure it can. Each unit would have to have the particular key bob programmed into it. Programming into one does not authorize others. You can use as many as 100+ on each individual unit, although that is probably a lot more than you need. It seems unlikely. The antenna is a field coil surrounding the numeric pad. All the components are sort of mounted on one piece of plastic. This device would be real easy to bypass: rip it off the wall and connect the correct two wires. Bottom line: if you are using this rfid reader in a high security situation, you are making a mistake. It is cheap and it works. Good for access control, not good for keeping out dedicated intruders. I have this on the front door of my building. It is great for letting people in or out during business hours. After hours, the door gets dead-bolted and the alarm gets turned on. see less

It's quite possible -- the housing is plastic, so it wouldn't be much of a task to break in. Exactly what they'd have to short together would depend on your installation, but since the relay to actually open the door is located in the panel, there isn't really a way to protect against it. Used this in place of an elevator call button that operates on 120v. If you look at the relay on the back, it is a standard PCB mount relay and is rated at 120-240vac @ 3 amps... Again, this is a typical pcb mount you'd find in all sorts of electronics. Instructions are horrible but if you have some intuition, you know what you're doing and have electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills you should be able to make it work. Not sure what all the gripe is about the built in relay on the thing. I measured the current on the elevator setup and saw about 625 mA, the relay can handle at least 4 times that. Measure the current through the load you are driving to determine if you need a larger relay to be driven by the onboard relay and try to stay decently well below its limit. If you do need a relay, I would suggest a solid state relay. It can be tampered with and somebody with some know how could defeat it, however, it does have a spring loaded tamper switch that could be utilized to trigger an existing alarm system or siren. No problems programming it, a little tinkering with the meter (hint: continuity) and it works nicely so far. On some of the connection points I found 12vdc, I'm assuming some of the other reviewers are using this 12vdc to drive their load and not just the powering the common on the PCB relay directly. I suspect this COULD be the issue some people are having with it malfunctioning over time and I would not suggest using it like this as its possible that the current draw of the load is being yanked through the units supply line causing premature failure, just a thought. Again, the author of the instructions for this thing could definitely use more than a little guidance in their utilization of the english language ;) Overall, I think it's pretty nice for the price. I removed one star because if power is lost, the relay is triggered upon restoration of power (like an outage) and allows access momentarily if someone is there at that particular time I haven't found a way to prevent it, again, more investigation needed. In this application it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Last thing, I have not seen any video or anyone using this unit quite like I am (120vac on the PCB relay). I did not follow the instructions much because they are useless. I looked at the relay and seen its rating, and then used my multimeter to probe for 12 volts while it was powered on and enabling the relay. Used continuity test to see which pins are connected through relay and verified 12vdc was not present on those connection points while relay was in both states before connecting 120v to it.

Can't beat the price. and it work as description. The user manual is in english. A little bit hard to read. Let me summary as this: Clear Memory, J16 pin2 to pin3 power up and down Programming # [xxxxx] system code. Default set to 12345 0 add user number which passcode [xxxx] , swap key and punch 6 digit password code 1 change system password, 5 digit, twice 2 add user number only [xxxx] and swap key 3 delete user number [xxxx] 4 delete all user number 5 change door open time [xx] in second 6 exit programming 8 modify user password code

For $6, this is amazing. I can see why some would say that the instructions are unclear, but if you slowly read it, you can find what you'r looking for, and just read that. Not to mention, there are video tutorials out there that help out quite a bit. The fact that I could set the relay timer (that opens the lock) from this panel is nice. I only had 1 fob issue (out of 30, I ordered this X3). There where two numbers over each other, but a quick test got me the SN. I then took that fob apart to see what they look like inside (because the concept og Google Images was lost for a few). Also, all 3 panels I ordered were the same printed model, but each was a little different. The only difference was addiotional features thogh (such as the one that came with a tamper switch). The panel is plastic. I knew this, but some who may just look at the picture may not know that. Its fine as long as you add a tamper switch (because you should have an alarm system). That will set off the alarm if the cover is removed. These things are great if you really know what youre doing with electronics. I plan on using these for many projects. One cool thing I am in the process of doing (with my experiment one) is computer integration. This will not only allow me to activate the lock remotely through my secure connection, btu also send me a text when ever the doorbell button is pressed. Keep in mind, the system can not just do that without someone experianced adding connections. As far as the standard user, this will do the job. The instructions might need a little studying, and more research will definately be needed if you are not fimiliar with electronics (such as wiring, or common tearms like NO, NC, Common, Gound), With a little help from youtube or a friend, anyone should be able to hook up this entire system in just a couple hours. After that, once you know what to do and how, you could get these wired up and running for a few users in just minutes. I have bought 3, and I plan on buying more in the future, so long as the price stays low.

-- Rating Explanation -- * This was eleven bucks at the time of purchase and I must say, I'm very happy with it. It's simple and works well. I had a few issues reprogramming an access code, but that may have been user error. * You really should use a relay (another ten bucks) to power this device and any external locks or mechanisms. I purchased a relay and, using a Leviton plug with some basic wire, attached the relay to an outlet and the door RFID reader to the relay. * The instructions for this are really well translated (or maybe written in English firsthand, but I'm doubting it based on various errors). The diagram explaining the electronic setup is easy to read and understand, even if you're not fluent in wiring. *** (^caveat: this is meant to be a door-access system, so when I attached it to my garage wiring which just needed a quick pulse to open/halt/shut the garage door, I had to play with the wiring to understand how to wire it up properly to the relay and then subsequently to the garage door. Took me a bit. Also, in that scenario, change the open time from 3 seconds to 1 second, as if you "accidentally" start closing your garage door, you don't want to wait the default 3 seconds to enter the code once more in order to halt/open the door, especially if your puppy is enjoying the cool cement floor while basking in the sunlight directly underneath said door) * The read/write of the RFID tags works great; I haven't tried with other RFID tags that I own, but I imagine they'd work similarly. For eleven bucks, a couple of other components and some experimentation, this was well worth the price. I believe these are generic (there are dozens of alternative brands of the exact same product with their brand plastered on the front) but for this, it was worth it. BTW - it's $11 bucks and while it has a counter-security measure (an 'illegal access attempted' alarm for those trying to disable it) all it would take is an intruder to pull off the digipad from it's base and tap two wires together to open a door (or ring the bell, or send a signal... whatever).

Arrived on time, good idea and looks nice, tests good, I use 3 tags; I powered it on and off many times and then left on for a week, and still working great. It is a good price but the plastic does not seem "sun strong" and must get the tag very near the unit. I like it. not heavy duty but does work as described..

I bought this for a friend, he used it as secondary door access security. He uses the regular door lock key, then the Docooler RFID access to control the electromagnetic door lock. The RFID keys are very easy to program, the instructive is easy to follow although the English seems a bit 'google translated'. Other than that it is very user friendly. It actually looks very professional, he was able to adhere it to the wall using double sided tape.
