My review of the Yongnuo 560-III. This is a high quality flash comparable to the Canon 580EX and I will say that it has improved my indoor flash photography tremendously. I really love the ability to change the flash zoom settings from 24mm to 105mm. You can also change the power output from 1/128 (low power) to 1/1 (high power). I would suggest keeping it 1/128 for most situations, because this flash can produce extremely powerful output that can blind a person. (Be careful) The 560-III does come with a built in diffuser, but would suggest buying a separate 'plastic cap version' to soften the powerful output further. You have a choice of both Manual and Multi-Mode. There is a built-in backlight to illuminate and see your flash options in darker environments. There is an IR sensor and radio frequency mode for wireless flash settings. So far, I really love this 560-III flash by Yongnuo, and it a great deal for its cost. Two thumbs up!

This is a manual flash. Your camera will only tell it to fire, it is a one way deal - it will not send any evaluative information back to your camera and then automatically make adjustments. You have to preset zoom and brightness. Until you get a feel for it you will need to take a shot, adjust, take the shot again, tweak... In short this flash has no TTL capability (Through the lens). If you can handle that, if you're prepared to spend some time familiarising yourself with the unit, you're going to be one happy bunny. Build quality is first class, electronic zoom is smooth and quiet, sound can be turned off if required (previous reviewer evidently didn't RTFM). I was becoming increasingly frustrated of banging brutal flash, head on, into my subjects, both with my Nikon bridge and with my 550D. With this I can bounce flash off a wall or ceiling and thanks to it's 180º swivel head one way, and 90º the opposite way, I can flip my camera over on the tripod to portrait and still have every angle I could need. It has a footplate, meaning I can stand it just about anywhere and trigger it with the in-built flash on my DSLR, my bridge, or any point and shoot - really useful if you want some additional side lighting. Alternatively you can light it with a wireless trigger. I've invested in a couple of Yongnuo RF 603 triggers. A piece of kit about the size of a pendrive that slots in the hot shoe of your camera and fires the flash up to a distance of 100 yards away. They're "transceivers" so they transmit and receive, meaning you can use them to fire the shutter from distance. At twenty quid for a pair of them it would have been rude not to get them. All in all this has been an awesome purchase. With the 200 quid I've saved not buying Canon flash equipment I've managed to invest in a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens (80 quid Tomtop UK) and a 75-300mm lens (109 euros Tomtop ES) - not top glass, but perfectly adequate for my needs right now. If I have any beefs at all, it's that the manual that accompanies the flash is a bit naff - the result of a ropey translation from Chinese to English. It's a not a huge issue, the menu on the flash unit itself is straight forward and intuitive, extra info readily available simply by googling the model number. This flash is ideal for indoor portraits, powerful enough to light the stage at my kids' plays from the back row, and does all the cool multi flash stuff so you can fire it 10 times in a 2 second exposure and capture the action of a golf swing in a single shot. Incredible value for money.

I was looking for something to use to replace some Sigma Flashes that were not behaving the way they were supposed to. These flashes are great. I have since bought three and plan to buy at least two more. I thought I would be hindered by them not having ETTL features but found just the opposite. The ability to quickly change the manual settings has been a huge help. I just dial in the manual settings on my camera and adjust the Flash settings as I see fit and then they stay that way! Consistency is great. These things are durable too! I was taking out the batteries while walking out to my car and ended up half throwing the flash across the pavement and it is still functional. (Not sure if I was lucky or if it is the build quality but I don't feel like I need to be super careful) If you get these make sure to use good quality rechargeable batteries in them. I switched from normal bargan AA batteries to Eneloop XX (Now eneloop pro) batteries and the recycle time has improved greatly! Pros: -Great Light Output. -Affordable (You wont worry about breaking them) -Built in triggers -Good build quality -Affordable accessories Cons: -The only one I can find is that the flash head is a bit large so some accessories may not fit. I have some Gary Fong light Spheres and I have to stretch them a bit to get them on but they still fit.

I ordered two 560 lll' s, but unfortunately one was faulty and was sent back for replacement , and it was replaced within two days by Tomtop, great service, it may be that product testing isn't one hundred percent at the yongnuo factory, but That said I am very pleased with the overall construction, and they seem well made, and for the price compared to canon units they really can't be beaten , so much so that I have ordered two more, I also have the 560 tx which works perfectly with the units and saves you going to each unit to make adjustments, also they trigger with my canon 430ex ll speedlite mounted on my 6D which is a bonus, overall I am very impressed with them and if you just need to use manual flash like I do then use these they are great !.

This flash is not a new one.its very capable ,you get a tone of features for the money you spend, its made of good materials and its very powerful (58 GN) Stronger than a lot of Nikon or Canon flashes that cost 2 or 3 times more(i.e.SB-700 GN 33) So i ll buy more of those instead of the ''top-branded'' .I use it with Sanyo eneloops and works just great ! A tiny thing only, the difuser and the reflector card does not come out with ease unless you have a long nail....but that's ok,maybe its because its new yet. I bought this from V-BASKET,nothing wrong with them, clear transaction on time and well protected package. One of my best purchases for sure.

This review is based on the YN560-III (3) Only I needed a cheap speedlight 3 days before 2 last minute shoots, so I took a chance and ordered this flash last minute and had it sent overnight. (Which was right on time, btw) I purchased for my d800 & D7100, nervous about the title which said canon pentax...ect.... It fit perfect and fired first shot. Side Note*** (for newbees) - THIS IS A MANUAL FLASH, not an issue if you understand the basics, but that is the main reason for the huge price discount compaired to Nikon SB-700/900/910. Power goes from 1/1 - to - 1/128 power in increments of 1/3 steps. The flash is still ticking no problem after 2 full day shoots (using flash for every shot) Refresh time notes*** ---- The flash never overheated, even after I used a set of batteries until they died and immediately put a new set in and kept shooting. The D800 shoots at up to 5fps, and during the times that I shot at continuous burst it refreshed every time UNTIL i increased the power up to 1/8. Review my speeds below. 1/16(+0.7) - 1/128 Full D800 FPS durring 10 Frame Burst @ 5fps 1/8 -- Fired the first 5 frames durring a 10 Frame Burst @ 5fps 1/4 - Fired first 2 skipped 3rd fired on 4th for 10 Frame Burst @ 5fps 1/2 - Fired on 1st skpped 2nd 3rd fired on 4th skipped 3 fired once 1/1 - Fired 1st shot only durring 10 Frame Burst @ 5 FPS ---Conclusion, very very good for the price Zoom function overview*** Works great - works quickly I wish it had a PLUS & MIN dedicated buttons because if you miss your MM you have to cycle through again The reach is great, I use with my Nikkor 70-200 2.8G AF-S ED VR I at 200mm and at 1/8 power set to 105mm it works as a fill flash perfectly. Wireless function*** I have not used with radio trigger, but the slave function works great, It does not have to be line of site (necessarily) The range is great, so far i've used at 60ft It has "Flash Fired" sensor on FRONT & BACK (It works like its got them on the sides also, lol) It has battery pack plug in and camera flash cord plug in as well. Built in diffuser works well also Currently the unit I have, has roughly 1500 fires and is still going strong -- I will update in the future, but I plan on ordering 2 more by next week. Feel free to email or submit a request with any questions.

I bought two of them at the same time. I did a quick test when they arrived and both worked. But when it came to seeing them up in a more advanced mode like triggering them in two different groups using the YN560-TX, I found out that one of the units did not allow me to change from group A to any other group. That unit also did not react to the power change like the good unit. So one goes back with the hope that their quality control was better for the next unit I'll receive. Again, the good unit seems to do its job for now. Regarding the manuals, go on YouTube to find a video. The manuals are terrible. But who knows, if you need a job in quality control or you are a good writer, Yongnuo might just have a job for you. ;)

jus got my flash today and it works. :D I have a canon 60D and it works pretty good with the cam even though it has one pin to the bottom. The only con I've seen so far is that you don't have the option to change the flash settings from the camera which isn't all that bad because u can do it much faster right from the flash itself. There is not ETTL...you would have to get the Yongnuo YN 568ex II model for that...which i don't really care for cause i'll be using it for off camera lighting. Unlike the YN 568ex II.... the YN 560 III zoom head does not move when you pull up the built in diffuser and bounce card.......It makes for a good secondary flash (slave).....for the price..u can't go wrong

This is such a great flash. I am glad I didn't spend $600 on the Canon version. I use a Canon 7D with this flash and I have Yonguo 603 flash triggers for my other flashes and strobes. Its nice to not have to use a trigger on this flash since its built in. I have a soft box for speed lights and the flash head will not fit when you use a flash trigger mounted on the hot shoe. This flash solved the problem for me quite nicely. The build quality is great. The buttons feel good and the head movement is nice and solid.

I'm really happy with this speedlight. There was a little bit of a learning curve for me because there are so many options on the light. Even after thinking I figured it out, I found out there was more it could do. It was all a matter of figuring out what the four mode buttons do and how to manipulate them. Flashes I've used in the past basically had only a few settings, so I really wasn't prepared for the step up. I'm also not a flash fan. I like to capture natural light and run from there. But, on paid shoots, sometimes that level of artistic vision isn't appreciated. I also want to point out how handy the pull out diffuser and bounce card are. They look cheap and useless, but in a pinch they work great. Especially the bounce card which just looks like a piece of white plastic coming out the flash. But it adds a great deal of diffusion and spread for such an innocuous thing. Oh, I'm sure there are better flashes out there, but for the price, this is a winner in my book. Just realize there may be a bit of a learning curve if you've never used one like this before.

This is really a fantastic flash at only $75, it is packed with great features, build quality is rugged and it performs just as well as the top brand flashes. I have two of these in my kit and will be adding more because I am so happy with them. I use Sanyo Eneloop NIMH rechargeable batteries in the 560 III flash units as well as the RF-603N II tranceivers and the 560 III recycle time is very fast, about 1 - 1.5 seconds. If you don't need TTL and are looking for a great manual flash I strongly suggest the 560 III.

I've been buying photography equipment from Tomtop for 2 years and have never been compelled to write a review. However, this little flash has impressed me enough to let everyone know how good it is. If you use off camera flash in studio or on location in manual mode this is the flash for you. Buy one set of the C3 radio triggers for your camera and you are ready to go. I've only had the flashes for about a week but I have been using them extensively and have had great results. I bought two of them to go along with the 7 other flashes that I have and they are now my favorite. This includes my canon 580 EXII. The built in radio trigger makes all the difference in the world. Put four batteries in the flash and stick it on a stand and you are ready to go. No more external triggers to worry about having batteries for or weither they are on or off. I trigger these with the C3 on my camera and the other flashes in S1 mode. In summary, great flash.

This flash has worked perfect so far and has tons of power with a quick recycle time. The build in recievers are a huge plus so I have less to carry, loose, and keep extra batteries for. As I already said the power on this flash is great and very close to that of the Nikon SB800 or SB900 with guide # and recycle times. This is NOT a ttl flash... It is also not $400, so to compare to the Canon 580's or Nikon 900's in any way other than power or manual modes is foolish. Stobist, off-camera effects, and some studio work could easily be accomplished with these. As this is a product review I have to say these are great, I purchased two(2) and plan to pick up a couple more. Side note: Watch who you purchase this item from. We went with 711onlinestore through Tomtop and had nothing but problems.

For an amateur like me, I wasn't keen to plop a big attachment on top of my camera. My friend convinced me and for around £40, it's been an absolute bargain. The flash is easily adjustable. It's manually set but having never used a TTL flash, I can't say that's a negative. It's easy to adjust the strength and direction of the flash. The only criticism I have is Yongnuo's hot shoe connector. The laziness in me can't be bothered always tightening it and as a result the flash can sometimes slip. I see other official flashes have a slide mechanism which seems better. However if you are happy to spin that little disk 5-6 times when attaching and detaching (as I really should) it's a great flash. Especially when you consider the vast cost difference between this and Nikon ones

The Sony flash for my camera retails new at nearly half a grand - that's ridiculous. I ended up getting a used HVL-58AM afterward too, but after losing many auctions for one (and refusing to pay blood money for a new one), thought I'd try the YN 560 as an interim flash. It really is spectacular, and even though I now have both, it still gets used a LOT. The levels of adjustment all the way down to 1/128, the many slave modes, and the multi setting make it very hard to give up, so I'll just keep it. For Sony it does need the Minolta to Standard Hot Shoe adapter, but I already had that, and nobody makes a 602 or 603 trigger compatible with Sony yet, so there is some degree of McGuyvering needed, but the results are well worth the effort. I now use it as a back/box/fill light or hair light a lot, and the flexibility of it is superb. The only downside in my mind is the lack of HSS, but my main light will sync at up to 1/8000 so it isn't the end of the world. It syncs fine up to 1/250, so for anything in studio it's fine, and for outdoor daylight I use the Sony. I only use the big strobes off camera, as either of them are just unwieldly on top of the camera (and the YN on top of the adapter to boot), but the built in acts as a controller and is capable of groups with the right triggers, so it works out quite well. TTL obviously won't function on a Sony camera, but I don't use it anyway, but I'm sure it could come in handy for a Canikon inclined person. The buttons/menus are a little cryptic, but google is your friend, and in a day's time you can know it inside out, and a couple more days you can make it play nicely with your dedicated units. For manual off camera use, it is every bit as good as the Sony, and at less than 20% of the new price, which make it a no-brainer. For my purposes, it's like having another 58, but for pennies on the dollar, especially as you can only have one act as controller anyway, and the two combined are more than capable of some pretty elaborate lighting. For under a c-note, you can have a great flash AND some eneloops, and really turn your creative options up a notch - or ten. Buy it - at the price, it would be silly not to. 4/2014 Have never updated a review, but had to this time. On location last month, I had this flash on a monopod as a slave and bumped it against the ceiling. The attachment on the bracket I was using let go and the flash fell almost 10 feet to a ceramic tile floor. The batteries shot out and flew well over 20 feet, the flash itself bounce a good 2 feet high and I was absolutely sure it was destroyed. I gathered the batteries back up, put them in and turned it on and it hasn't missed a lick since. Less than 2 weeks later, I had it on a light stand, well over 7 feet up and one of the models lost their balance, grabbed for the stand to catch herself and took it tumbling down the seawall with her, mangling the stand and sending the flash crashing onto and down between the big boulders. She was battered, the stand was totaled, but once I dug the flash out and put new batteries in (the ones in it were gone and we never found where they flew), it STILL works perfectly, gouges in the side and all. I have several $500 speedlights and NONE of them work any better (obviously in manual) than this unit, and while I don't want to test it, I suspect NONE of them would have survived either, much less both of these disasters. Built in radio receiver, highly variable power, dependable slave modes, multi mode .... this will do it all if you know what YOU are doing. Every poor review due to this flash not working in full auto mode make me want to scream. Anyone with even an ounce of ability would never even CONSIDER 'automatic' flash anyway. Cheap Chinese junk? B, please! It's a tank and outperforms all my 'name brand' flashes by a huge margin, dollar for dollar. I'll buy a bag full of YN's before I ever spend another penny on an overpriced 'name brand' speedlight again.
