The lens is decent for the price point and is a good starting lens. Pros- The lense's price point was relatively good and offered a cheaper alternative rather than Canon's lenses which can run up past $300 or more. Very fast focusing. Cons- The photos come out blurry when taken on the lowest F-stop available for the lens though increasing the F-stop by one or two stops should fix that. Conclusion: I overall enjoyed the lens as it had a cheap price point that didn't break the bank and provided a better alternative to Canon's lenses for photographers who don's have much money.

I got my YOUNGNUO 50mm 1.8 lens today, and I guess i got lucky - not only is it tack sharp, but mine has no dithering or hunting for focus even in pretty low light; in fact, it focuses faster than my Canon lenses and with much more sureness. I know that there's a certain amount of sample variation, but most of the reviews say this has very good image quality, and mine sure does. It has a creamy bokeh, too. Of course, nothing in life is perfect. For those shooting video, this lens isn't as quiet as Canon's STM 50mm 1.8. Mine is still pretty quiet, but not silent as you need for video where you'll be using the sound. And build quality, while quite good for a $50 lens, is pretty plasticky, but on the other hand, so are the Canon 50mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 STM lenses I've used. All in all, I'm really liking this lens, and the price and light weight make it even better. If you have a Canon camera and need a sharp prime for pictures, you can't go wrong with this lens. I think next I'll try the Yongnuo 35mm 1.8 and see how that does.

To be honest, I thought I’d be buying a junky lens for this price. But at the insistence from my friend that this was well worth trying, I pulled the trigger. I’m a wedding photographer and have already used this lens on multiple shoots with fantastic results. If you’re looking for straight up quality with no regards to price, obviously go and buy yourself a new canon version of this lens (I love that lens as well), but if you’re looking for the best value in terms of price to quality ratio, you just can’t beat this.

Ok I actually use to own the Canon 50 1.8. The built is spot on the old version. Yes there is clear plastic front and back of lens. Also I use mine for video the auto focus when taking picture is ok sometimes it's hard to focus but like I said I use mine for video so I don't use auto focus, now with that being said. Mine would not move when I switch over to manual I could not get the focus ring to budge at first.I really had to force it and now it seems somewhat loose but does focus. I will be doing full review on my YouTube Channel Revelation Video Productions

Read the reviews and was leery at first but has worked well so far. I’m using a t3i still and this lense has done well. Only reason I rated it four stars is because sometimes it looks in focus and get the photos over to my Mac and are blurry. Could be user error, I am getting older so sight is not what it use to be. Overall I’ve had for a few months and have swapped this lense out with others over 3 dozen times and no issues with it sticking to the body. Quality probably not as great as canon but for $30-$40 cheaper I’m satisfied.

I ordered this lens and it's possibly the most amazing lens I've ever used; especially at the price point. It honestly preforms better than either of my Canon lenses. I normally don't share/post reviews of anything I buy, but photography can definitely put a dent in your pocket. The physical quality of the lens isn't super oh-my-god spectacular, but again, for $45-$55 it's super impressive. I'd post actual sample photos but I can seem to find my memory card reader anywhere after our move! I was using this lens on a Canon EOS Rebel T5.

Been very pleasantly surprised with this lens so far. I use this lens on my EOS M mirrorless camera with an EF-EOS M adapter. The photos it takes are very sharp. The colors are bright. The bokeh is better than my EF-M 22mm. The autofocus is pretty fast. I can shoot images faster with this lens on the adapter than with the native EF-M 22mm or EF-M 18-55mm lens. The only negative I have experienced so far is the noise of the autofocus. I have shot video with this lens yet to see if the autofocus noise gets picked up by the camera mic. I consider the noise a fair trade-off for a lens that is forty percent cheaper than the nifty-fifty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I think it's safe to say it definitely gets the job done. The clarity of the photos is as expected, so no complaints there. The only thing keeping it from five stars is how long it takes to focus. It whirs in and out on Auto Focus and requires patience, causing irritation. It probably sounds like it isn't a big deal, but it's enough to lose a star. However, I think it's definitely worth what you save through buying this as opposed to buying the Canon brand. I use it on my Canon 70D for reference.

I was somewhat concerned at first when I received this lens as there was a fingerprint on the inside glass. Can't tell if this was a refurbished lens, or if a factory worker just has no clue what they are doing. However after I cleaned the lens and took a few photo's I was very impressed. The lens is lightweight due to the cheaper materials but my camera seems to snap the pictures quickly and crisply. Great "Bokeh" effect even in lower light settings. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase despite the smudge.

This lens is a amazing! Be aware that it does have a protective film on either side of the lens that needs to be removed. This may be why some people are getting blurry photos. It really is an amazing lens for such a low price. I agree that when in auto-focus mode it does make more noise than a kit lens or a more expensive lens. I recently used this lens to do a hospital photo session and it worked wonderfully well in the low light conditions of a hospital. It is a great walk around lens and you can't beat the price on this!

This is a great lens. I have used the canon 50mm previously and returned it as I didn't feel it added anything to my photography at the moment. I definitely needed the 50 mm now and saw the great reviews and almost half the price for this lens. The lens is a slight bit slower than the cannon, but Im sure most people wouldn't even notice. Pictures are very clear and sharp and compares to the Cannon well. The lens fits on my Cannon 70D just as the Cannon lens do. Would highly recommend this lens to anyone looking for a prime.

ALL THE HEART EYES FOR THIS INCREDIBLE BOKEH! For the price and quality of this lens I definitely recommend. Super fast shipping and the quality is incredible. I've only had it for a few hours now but I pulled some images up in adobe and they're great quality. I will definitely be looking at this seller and brand again when I buy my next lens and future equipment! I opened this lens and like a five year old I wanted to put it on right away. Unfortunately I had to wait for it to warm up because it fogged over lol!

This is a fantastic lens. I don't have a Canon equivalent to compare it to as I didn't want to drop $150 on a lens I wasn't sure I'd use. But those were silly thoughts because this is great and very versatile lens that pretty much stays on my 5D II. AF is kinda meh and pretty loud, but I don't use it very often so not a deal breaker for me. Maybe one day I'll step up to a Canon brand one, but for now this is a great learner for me and a fantastic cheaper alternative for others. Here's some examples of what I've done with this lens so far.

For the price you pay, this is an amazing lens. I do not regret my purchase at all, although slightly loud when it comes to auto focus noise while recording, this lens is top notch for only being $53. I much rather stick to manual focus but if you use auto focus then it might be a tad bit slow, but even then it's not a deal breaker. If you're looking into buying a prime lens but you're on a budget or if you just want to try out a lens before making a bigger investment then this is the best choice especially if you're just branching out into prime lenses.

This lens was my first foray into prime lens. When I bought it I couldn't figure out why anyone would want a 'prime lens'. This lens changed my mind and really upped my photo game! I took the lens on several trips, and it unfortunately broke. You can hear a rattle inside the lens and it is now stuck in an out of focus position. I have reached out to the company, but I am not holding my breath that it will be fixed or replaced under the warranty. I am still recommending this as an entry-level lens for newer photographers. It takes significantly better photos than your kit lens. Sadly, it is a little too delicate for me.

This lens is probably just a little less impressive than the Canon version, but if it's more important for you to save between $40 to $75 depending on price fluctuations, then go for it. I dropped two Canon lenses and both broke. I wasn't in the position to spend another $125, so I went for the Yongnuo version to get a cheaper replacement. Side by side comparisons on youtube demonstrate that the canon is sharper. But like anything in life, you get what you pay for. The lens does the job though. It's not a bad idea to have one on standby considering the price. So far, I've only used it for one professional photography event, and it did the job just fine. The event was was not lit well, and my subjects were dark, but the camera performed exceptionally well throughout several hours of photography. Even without using any flash, the focus was on point, and the camera let in enough light that I was able to get clear exposed photos without motion blur. I recommended the lens to another photographer at the event, saying "look how good these photos are, considering this cheap lens I'm using for the first time." i don't recall the exact settings but I would say they were something close to this: ISO 800-1600, Shutter 160, f 2.8.

What I like: Price; image quality; the 1.8 for low light photos. Where the low price shows: Slow autofocus (too slow for action photos, fine for general use); minimum focus longer than Canon 50m lens, so not great for macro. It you want a 50 for portraiture, event shots or landscape, it's OK. Posted by a guy who carries a camera bag for work, and shoots community-sports pix. When using it for indoor sports (basketball), I use the manual focus to pick a spot on the floor, and wait for the action to get there, rather than wait for the camera to autofocus.

I've held off for some time, wanting to skip the Canon 50mm 1.8 and put the money towards the 1.4 instead. But when I read a review about this lens, seeing that it was pretty much identical to the Canon, yet costing a third less (which is nice) but more importantly, having a 7 bladed aperture as opposed to the Canon's 5 blade, I decided to pick it up. So far, it seems to focus and work well, although I'll admit, the autofocus noise shocked me. (My other lenses have all been STM models, and I haven't experienced the standard USM Canon lenses yet.) But I don't ever plan on shooting video with it, and the bokeh in photos will look far nicer due to the 7 blades. I consider this to be a better buy over the Canon model, as far as the 50mm 1.8 is concerned.
