I know the 560EXIII can move up and down but can it move side to side?

A
  • Yes. The flash swivels so you can aim it left or right.

Does this work with Yongnuo YN-622N wireless triggers?

A
  • I have a YN-622C (Canon) and it does NOT work with the exception of simply firing if and when the channels are configured. It makes no sense and it's inexcusable as a consumer. You get what you pay for I suppose.

My review of the Yongnuo 560-III. This is a high quality flash comparable to the Canon 580EX and I will say that it has improved my indoor flash photography tremendously. I really love the ability to change the flash zoom settings from 24mm to 105mm. You can also change the power output from 1/128 (low power) to 1/1 (high power). I would suggest keeping it 1/128 for most situations, because this flash can produce extremely powerful output that can blind a person. (Be careful) The 560-III does come with a built in diffuser, but would suggest buying a separate 'plastic cap version' to soften the powerful output further. You have a choice of both Manual and Multi-Mode. There is a built-in backlight to illuminate and see your flash options in darker environments. There is an IR sensor and radio frequency mode for wireless flash settings. So far, I really love this 560-III flash by Yongnuo, and it a great deal for its cost. Two thumbs up!

This is a manual mode only flash that has built in 2.4Ghz remote control. I use this with my Canon 5D mk3 and a set of Yongnuo YN RF-603 C3 triggers. No trigger is needed for the flash end, just your camera if it does not already have it. I can now shoot with wireless flash at up to 1/160 shutter speed. This unit feels a little cheaper than my Canon 430 EX II but not a million miles away. It is much brighter than the 430, as it should be. The big issue of course is price. The Canon 600EX-RT flash is £430. This thing is not just cheaper, but in a different world price-wise. Even is this proves less reliable and needs replaced every year or so, it would still be worth it. I can buy almost NINE of these for the cost of the Canon. Okay so it does not have ETTL, but that is of limited use when bounce flashing or shooting through an umbrella etc anyway. It is also a little tricky to get the diffuser panel out. Generally I am a fan of paying extra for quality and would not normally even consider a typically "cheap" copy of anything. Canon's ridiculous pricing though means I have, and I am glad I have. I bought this and the pair of triggers mentioned for about seventy-five quid. Used with my existing Canon 430EX II flash and I have twin wireless flash. To do this with an all canon setup such as two 600EX-RT and a transmitter from Canon would be about one thousand pounds. I will update the review in time if anything changes, so far though I am very happy.

I was skeptical at first about buying such a cheap flash however upon arrival my doubts were unfounded. The flash is well built and sturdy and fits my D3100 like a glove. The flash on full power is very powerful which is great for outside but can be lowered to 1/128 of full power. There is no ttl on this flash it's manual only but it does come with in built transeivers for use with the relevant yongnuo triggers. Also included is a foot so you can position it off camera more easily and a nice case to carry it all in. My personal opinion is that you should learn manual flash before going down the automatic iTTl route but not only that with 1 nikon sb700 costing nearly £250 for the same price you could get two of these a set of wireless triggers and some umbrellas and have a nice little set up and have money left over. This is an excellent product for the price and would highly recommend.

I had bought one of these, a week or so earlier and sent it back after I could not pair it with either of the my original RF603N triggers, I had also bought. But I decided to buy another one from a different supplier and some new RF603N triggers, just in case it was the triggers. Put new batterys in, selected the correct channel on both the gun and new triggers, and it worked straight away, with the blue light on the gun showing that it had paired succesfully with either of the triggers. My original triggers would not pair with this gun as well, SO I must conclude that my original flashgun purchase was not faulty. This is an excellent MANUAL flash, easy to use and setup but go online and watch setup videos as the manual is it abit poor. No professional photographer, uses TTL flash metering, it's too inaccurate, so buy one these and get your flash off your camera for some creative lighting and buy a good lightmeter. Excellent menu, usual power outputs 1/1 - 1/128, either in 1/3 or 1/2 stops, 2 slave modes, strobe effect, quick recycling times especially at lower power outputs. I have not had a single misfire so far. Fires on camera, off camera with camera flash triggering it, off camera with another flash triggering it, off camera with wireless trigger attached, off camera using its built in reciever with one trigger attached to the camera. The possibilities are endless!

I'm a long time fan of Yongnuo. I have a 560 Mark I, a 565, and whatever the small 400 series one is. I also have a Canon 430exII and 580exII. I really didn't need any more flashes, but I really liked the built in receiver. I use my RF-602 transmitters all the time even though I have a full set of RF-622s. I like the compact size, and the receivers function as flash holders. I'm not sure what made me buy these, but I did. I bought two. I have a flash addiction. There, I passed the first step. These are awesome! The built in receiver is badass. I love not having to grab a receiver, worry about batteries on the receiver, worry about turning off the receiver (which sucks on the 602s), etc. The flash itself is really well made; the LCD display is great (the original just had those LEDs), the controls obvious. I also like that there's a quick off setting (through the custom menu) so it turns off at the touch of a button. I hate the two second holds. It's the only thing I like about my Canon 430exII - the toggle switch for on off. I frequently turn flashes on/off when adjusting lighting, and the 430 is the king of this use. The only complaint I have is the zoom function. There's a single button so you have to scroll through all the ranges if you want to go down a notch. Not a big deal, but an annoyance.

I had read some of the other reviews by photographers who had purchased this Chinese brand and manufactured Speedlite, for the price paid, I had my reservations, (Whilst I have not had time to test the unit yet), my initial reaction is one of extreme Surprise, I was expecting a broken white box, i was wrong, the Yongnuo YN 560 III Wireless 2.4, is very nicely packaged in its own branded box, a rather pleasant Gold Effect with black lyrics, at first glance it looks professional, having taken the unit out of the well packaged box, the unit has a fairly nice build quality, to be honest, it looks the same as a Canon Speedlite, and the swivel head and flash turn mechanism to me almost seems better than Canon, has a soft feel to it, it comes with a nice case, similar to Canon, branded with yongnuo on the front, a flash stand, and a good set of instructions, having read those, the Chinese are clearly trying to up their game, by having them translated somewhat better than in the past, I had no problems understand what they were trying to convey, it seems to me, China is trying to do better with its own branded products, instead of making them for other western companies. The buttons on the back of the unit are as shown in the photo, they look clearly presented, and a good size LCD screen, so far so good, as i said I have not had time to test it yet, but the unit has the look of a larger Canon 600 EX RT, and is designed by the instructions I have read to do exactly the same job, but for £54.00 and not £470.00 thats a big difference if your on a budget, I'm not sure if its TTL I don't believe it is, but it doesn't seem to take long to alter the power settings on the rear of this unit, and in any event I am someone who likes to set my own power flash settings and zoom settings, you will need an R202 or R203 wireless transmiter for your camera from Yongnuo, but these are fairly easy to pick up here at Tomtop and reasonably priced, if it goes well I am going to buy another 2 of them, thats only £162.00 for 3....think about it, and consider this unit for your needs, delivery was speedy, I ordered on Wednesday afternoon, on Thursday it was delivered. best of luck.

Very satisfied with this flash. Works great in all modes, and gets the job done well. My only slight issue with this is I do not believe it has a test button, or at least maybe I haven't figured out how to test fire it. When I first got it out the package I was very happy with the build quality, feels much more sturdy than my cheaper Neewer brand speed light I bought before this one. Also, when rotating the top part of the flash it feels very nice, with no shake or rattle. This flash functions great in slave mode, the optical sensor does a great job picking up the light signal from my less powerful Neewer flash. Id recommend this flash to anyone looking to add a flash into their arsenal. Once my Neewer goes dead for sure, I will defiantly be replacing it with one of these.

I was a bit skeptical about the build quality based on the price of the unit, but these units have greatly exceeded my expectations. Combined with the Yongnuo YN560-TX flash trigger and the Yongnuo Upgrade RF-603 II triggers, I have a system that feels like it cost several times more than it actually did (likely due to the satisfying sound prompt when the the flash has recycled and is ready for use) Very consistent flash output, combined with precision control of the zoom and power settings, leaves me coming back to these flashes with excitement. This is by far one of the best lighting speedlights I have ever used in this price range, and so far (3K images) not a single misfire! That's something I could have never have even hoped for from my old Vivitar 283's.

No TTL but who needs it anyway? This is bar none the best value in a manual camera flashgun on the current market, in my opinion. Get this flashgun along with the companion YN 560 TX wireless flash controller and you'll have nothing to envy of the much higher priced brand name, camera specific TTL flashes. I purchased the flash controller, 2 triggers, two flashes, and plan on getting one more soon and I still would have spent less then half of what just 1 of my camera brand flashguns would cost. The flash is well made, powerfully bright and full of fairly easy to use manual functions that work great. Compare the 560III to the nearly $700 camera brand flashes out there and you will see that the Yongnuo holds its own against it in every aspect including build quality. Get this impressive flash gun and you won't regret it. I love mine! Rafe

I have owned the 603II transmitters from Yongnuo for a couple years and have been extremely pleased with them. I have read several reviews on the Speedlite Flashes and decided to go with the YN560-III model. I had little issue setting up my 603II transceivers with the flash. I paired the YN560-III with my Canon 430EX-II flash on a trip to Texas to shoot a wedding. The flash provided everything I needed for the 8-hour coverage and the fact it had it a built-in receiver was a nice plus. I did not encounter anything unusual or quirky; no misfires (aside from batteries needing to be swapped out). I do a lot of off-camera flash shooting and the transceivers and receiver from the flash worked flawlessly, even at a range of 30-40 feet as I walked around the reception area. We'll see how things go as I use it more. However, so far so good. I plan to buy 1-2 more to complete my mobile unit. Even if I do encounter any issues, at $60-$65 per flash, I can get them replaced without breaking the bank. Purchasing through Tomtop was painless. So far, everything has been good. I may write a follow up review after a few months.

PROS: - Perfect for amateur photographers who are just trying out speedlights - Very good price for what it can do. Just thankful for companies that give you access to products that you normally wouldn't buy because you're not sure if you're in it for the long haul. By making simple versions of speedlights that are even good enough for professionals, they've given me the chance to try out one genre of photography without breaking the bank. And if you decide that speedlights are not for you at least you didn't pay $550 for it. - Power is comparable with more expensive counterparts - Good build quality for $71 *LET'S BE REASONABLE AS REVIEWERS AND EXPECT ONLY FEATURES THAT SHOULD BE REASONABLY INCLUDED AT THE PRICE POINT WE PAID THE PRODUCT FOR. In essence, we can't expect a Ferrari performance from a car we paid for at a Honda Civic price. CONS: - the CHINGLISH manual is tricky to understand but nowadays, common sense means that you search things on YouTube for how to videos and there you'll find a video on how to pair this flash with your Yongnuo rf-602s or rf-603s. - a little tricky to pair with Yongnuo triggers without help from the helpful people who post videos on YouTube. - Interpreters are cheap now...PLEASE...Yongnuo...hire a Chinese-American who is fluent in both English & Chinese to translate the manual for you. No matter how complicated a product will be...a good manual can always simplify it for people with common sense.

I have been using Canon's own brand of flashes for quite a while. I did a quick and dirty test power test with this flash vs my 580EXII. The Yongnuo won easily! The way I tested it was to set up a subject and my camera at designated distances. I then chose a shutter speed and f-stop to capture both full power and the lowest power of each flash. In my test, the Yongnuo revealed a notable brighter burst at both settings. I hardly ever use on-camera flash so lack of TTL doesn't mean much to me. I love the slave feature of this flash. I can quickly and easily set up a multiple light set-up on the go. I have 2 and will probably end up picking up a few more at some point.

Didn't expect much from a $75 speedlight. Boy was I wrong! I have the Sb-800 and the Sb-600 and never really used the TTL, so I thought I'd give a shot with a manual-only flash. Right out of the box I was pleasantly surprised, the body is solid like a brick. it feels good, much larger than the Sb-600 but not so large that it gets in the way. I compared it side by side with the 600 since it would be it's closest equivalent and I found it to be much stronger. at full output is 4 stops stronger than the nikon. It also can be dimmed all the way down to a 1/128 with third stop intervals while the 600 only goes down to 1/64. The optical sensor works perfectly fine, even with my finger over the sensor it was able to sync with other flashes. It would take a lot of interference to prevent it from shooting. It's led and sound indicators are loud enough that you can hear what's going on in a busy studio setting. My favorite, unexpected perk: It has an internal wireless syncs with yongnuo wireless triggers (which retail for about $30 a pair). You just plug one to the camera and the flash automatically syncs to a 125th (could be more, I didn't check other sync speeds). The SB-600 does not sync neither in optical slave nor wirelessly (unless you have an SB-800 on camera and use CLS), you need to plug an external trigger to be able to use it off-camera (which at $450 list price kinda sucks). So the race is definitively in favor of the yongnuo on this matter. Reload time is slightly better than for the sb-600 while on fresh batteries and it's capacitors seem to hold enough charge to shoot a couple of full power shots before having to reload, but it's not very reliable. It's also louder and it does feel a bit clunkier than the refined lines of the Nikon. It can work all the way from 14mm to 85mm and it has a diffuser and white bouncer integrated, which is useful. Nothing special. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, it is a solid performer at a superb price. Five stars all around.
