I am extremely happy with my purchase of this product. I have already used this product in my new videos. It is very bright and does what it says on the tin. The use of batteries instead of AC is great for portability. Look forward to using outside for nighttime shooting. Many thanks!

Great little light for the money. So versatile. I use this mainly as a fill light for indoor wedding photographs, but have used it as a fill light also in a video setting. It takes AA rechargeable batteries, and also a Panasonic CGR-D16S, Sony NP-FH70, NP-FM55H, NP-F550. The batteries last a good while, and the light given off is quite bright for the small form factor. It is dim-able and there is a tester button on the back. It has a hot shoe mount to use in a dslr video rig such as a run and gun rig, and can screw directly onto a light stand. Overall great little light for very little money!!

reading the reviews i decided to buy and take a chance... i'm very happy with what i'm now going to nickname "the torch". the mounting to the camera appears a little flimsy but with *careful use should last. if you treat your kit roughly or drop it onto hard surfaces i think it's not going to survive very well. i'm reticent when finding an on/off/volume rotary control to adjust the brightness (or volume) of anything as they always deteriorate to some degree or another over time, but when the time comes i'll buy a replacement or solder in a new switch. the unit is currently switched on and at 1/3rd of full output. its bright and sunny in here after having loaded it with 6 x AA rechargeable batteries (not 4 batteries as some reviews have stated). on this unit there is a battery test button, and when pressed its showing my old batteries down to 1 out of 4 lights which means the batteries are pretty much exhaused before i started the test. i'm just running the light until battery failure, just to see how long i get, and if i can get through typing this review before it turns itself off... the light is controllable with the volume control without any of the expected roughness in control. for the price i cannot imagine they have used a decent switch, so it's what i think of as the weak link in the chain. the switch is providing smooth and progressive control so far. the light output pattern appears to be a rounded-off rectangle when i direct it at a wall and by sight (and without the diffusing filter dropped in) i can detect very slight hot and cold spots. with the diffuser in its looking perfectly even by sight (not lightmeter) the diffusers obviously reduce the light output by a large chunk ! (no light meter here, so i cant give f-stops dropped). the supplied slide in filters diffuse the light well enough and more importantly they diffuse evenly. the light has been on for about 20 minutes now on a quarter of its power output, and its not managed to get above ambient temperature and is still perfectly cool to the touch. as an indoor stills photography fill light i feel the light will be more than adequate for what i require e.g. portraiture fill lighting or rim lighting. it's well powerful enough to act as a main light too but i dont know about battery life at full output. i havent read the instructions as yet so dont know if there is a wattage or current rating quoted; the time available will be easily calculatable if you know the battery capacity and the current drain, but to be honest i think a spare set of AA rechargeable batteries at hand will ensure i am kept happy. the plastic body appears to be sturdy enough to cope with use, but not with rough use, and i doubt if the plastic mounting bracket will survive if its loaded with batteries (heavy) and dropped onto the bracket as its fixed with 4 x tiny screws which i think would wreck the bottom of the unit as they ripped our or if they are over stressed by rough handling when attempting to remove from the camera/tripod. after bashing the plastic and poking it about i think it's perfectly adequate to ensure long life with careful use. perhaps wrap it in a towel when transporting it ? its cheap enough to replace so i dont think negatively about it's construction and strength. DO NOT use this in even the lightest of rain as its in no way proofed against water ingress. the air vents will allow water into the "gubbins" of the unit immediately and i have no intention of spraying it to test its water resistance which is ZERO. if it gets wet it will go faulty. it will stand on a table top if inverted or on either of its sides which does not effect its operation (electrons run uphill pretty easily LOL). the battery port does have a huge rectangular hole in it, this is true, but i think the hole is there to provide air circulation for the batteries which may get hot on a full power discharge??? the cover is thin plastic and care should be taken when removing it by it's small pinch clip. there is a battery converter that clips in to the unit enabling all kinds of rechargeable camera batteries to be fitted to it. this is not tested by me as i have no sony or pana batteries of a suitable size (i use a sony a6000 camera, and canon 5d cameras). read others reviews for this aspect of the power supply. is it worth the outlay? i think the answer must be "certainly yes". dont drop it or abuse it, and it should last a long time. i dont intend to use the on/off part of the rotary switch which should ensure a long(er) life of switch itself. i have dropped one star because of the design of the bracket and the expected lifespan of the dimmer control, which may or may not be a foundless concern ? for this price its a no-brainer. (and its still shining brightly one hour after switch on when it showed 1/4 power - never too accurate as the lights rely on the battery voltage which on rechargeables is usually a little lower than alkalines anyway. (at this price it may also be worth buying as an emergency light for home use - i'm pointing it at the white ceiling and the light is easily strong enough to read a book by its reflected light. dark cupboards will be well lit up too. just a thought. i hope this review is useful to some !

If you're reading this review I'm going to assume you're not looking for professional quality nor do you expect super battery life. If that's the case, you're in luck! Having said that, this is a nice starter light, with useful orange, purple and white diffusion panels. I think you'll be surprised by how bright this gets. If you're in the market for a cheap light for occasional use then this is a good bet.
