Questions & Answers
I just got this unit (Feb 2016) after contacting Yongnuo..the latest firmware is needed but it does now work fine w/ 430 RT. Just make sure you set the ID to match and also set the channel to auto.

It will ineed, however, if you have the black model of the a6000 and not the silver, you'll need to remove some of the black paint from the metal on the hotshoe to get it to trigger.

Hi Ka Chun Wong, our YN-E3-RT can work with YNE3-RT to control Canon flash 580EX for TTL mode, not with YN622.

This has worked well on my Canon 5D3 to control some Canon 600ex-rt flashes at a considerable savings over the Canon equivalent. While researching Canon's new radio remote flashes, I saw a few complaints about the quality of the Yongnuo equivalent of the Canon flashes, but everyone seemed to be happy with the Yongnuo remote controller. So I got Canon flashes and this remote and haven't had any problems.

Bought this to replace Canon's ST E3 RT which does not have IR Focus Assist for some dumb reason they took it off. Anyway this Yognuo has the IR and works perfectly. if your hands hurt at the end of the day and you are tired of keeping your flash on-camera during low light the wedding receptions get this one instead. ///////6MONTH Update: Product seems to work fine but display backlight seems to have failed which is quite frustrating in the near dark of a wedding venue. I am hoping there is warranty service available.

Works like a charm, no intructions came with it but was pretty easy to figure out after about 5-10 minutes. Works just like the Canon version that is 3 times as much. To make it better it has a focus assist light that comes on in lower light to help focus faster. I splurged buying the Canon 600ex rt because overall it was legitimately better than the Yonguo flash I own already but for a transmitter I went with the Yonguo and it's great! Also this ONLY works with the Canon/Yonguo 600ex rt, flashes

This device is great! If you can't justify getting the Canon version for a few hundred bucks more, this one will do everything that the Canon ST-E3-RT does (or at least I have not discovered a function that it cannot do). I have no problems with off-brand devices as long as they work, and this is a great example. Works great with my Canon 600 EX-RT flashes. No misfires so far, and we have been using these for a few months now.

Quite impressed with this unit. Has worked flawlessly with the Yongnuo flashes I also purchased. Bought these when my faithful 580EX took an unexpected fall and quit working. The build of the wireless controller is great and it was very easy to get up and running. Also have some other Yongnuo wireless triggers and while they work well, it seems the buttons to switch channels get bumped often and you have to change them back to the correct channel frequently. The YN-E3-RT doesn't have this issue at all. It just works. I use this mainly for portraits on location triggering multiple flashes on light stands with soft boxes.

I am using a brand new YN-E3-RT (updated to the latest firmware, vr 1.24) with a brand new Canon 430EX III RT, YN600EX-RT II and a Canon 5Ds R. I can't get the YN-E3 to link with the 430EX III. I will link with the YN600EX-RT. I tried setting the channel in Auto mode as well as manually. Oddly, if I use the 430EX III in the camera's hot shoe as a master it will link up and works well with the YN600EX-RT. The 430EX III RT will only rule, it will not serve! I see a number of comments where updating the YN-E3-RT software fixes the issue. I'm hopeful that Yongnuo's next firmware update will correct the issue. In all other respects I like the YN-E3-RT. I use it to control a couple of YN600EX-RTII speedlites. No issues. So my 4 star rating is solely a function of the 430EX III issue.

Just adding one more confirmation, without firmware update it did not work with my 430ex III-RT at all, but after firmware update it's working perfectly with my 430ex III-RT (III has wireless, unlike II) I had to download two programs from the yongnuo website (I downloaded them onto a virtual machine so no virus/malware could be on my main one, it's often a bad idea to install obscure chinese software on your main computer), plugged device into usb and updated the firmware on it. 5 seconds later it was perfectly controlling both my 430ex III-RT wirelessly just like the official device, and for something like a quarter of the price. A few minutes of extra work is certainly worth saving three hundred bucks in my own opinion. Though the real drawback is I've heard if the device does malfunction sometime in the future, the cost of shipping to china, questionable repairs and wait time may make it easier to simply buy a new one. Of course, if the alternative costs as much as 4-6 yongnuo transmitters, it's hard to be mad about eventually having to buy a single cheap replacement or two.

This works perfectly with our Canon two 600EX-RT speedlights. It seems to do everything the Canon will, but adds infrared focus assist, which is really kind of awesome. We've used it for a little over a month now on a regular basis and are completely thrilled. It's so much less expensive, I really don't think you can go wrong.

The only thing to be aware of, in my opinion, is that currently the AF assist beam does not work with the 5D Mark IV. I've used it to trigger the Yongnuo YN600EX-RTII flash, Canon 600EXII-RT on the 5D Mark IV and the 5Ds. The inclusion of the AF assist beam on the Yongnuo transmitter is GREAT as the Canon transmitter does NOT have it (which is ridiculous, IMO). The range of the Yongnuo transmitter is 100 meters whereas the range of the Canon transmitter (ST-E3-RT) is only 100 feet. So the Yongnuo transmitter will work more than 3x the distance vs the Canon.
