This is an inexpensive signal generator that offers a lot for the low price. While expensive test gear will outperform this - for many uses this generator is really handy. Before I purchased this I checked out videos on you tube and was generally impressed with what you could do with an inexpensive piece of test gear. Some of the videos showed some ring on a square wave from the generator. The model I received did not have this problem so I suspect that the generator design may have been touched up to take care of this small issue. Overall the generator give the hobbyist a lot of capability. For my use it's been great.

All I've done is try out the built-in capabilities, just to be sure it wasn't DOA, and was a version with the advertised features. Everything works as expected. Any shortcomings in signal quality are minor and expected given the price point. I connected it to the Siglent SDS1102CML digital scope for these tests, and was reminded how easy that oscilloscope is to use as well. First, anyone interested in learning about this signal generator will find a lot more online about the model MHS-5200A, which appears to be the exact same unit, under a different name. There are reviews and upgrades, including fixing the over-bright display (a minor issue) and correcting some of the distortion in the sine wave output (how important this is depends on how spectrally pure an output you need). There is also some aftermarket software hobbyists have developed for uploading arbitrary waveforms, if the supplied software doesn't meet your needs. Some people have even managed to "close the loop" and download waveforms captured on their digital storage scopes (like the one I use) into their computer, edit them, and then upload them into the signal generator. This is way more than I need - I'll likely never attach it to a computer - but some users of this device will doubtless want to follow these brave hardware hackers' lead. A nice English manual is available from one of the serious hobbyist sites, and maybe other places too. It was written by an English-speaking hobbyist based on the Chinese manual and online sources - it covers all the basic internal functions with clarity. I don't like posting links, so just Google it yourself. Search for MHS5200.pdf. Follow a result on eevblog.com about reverse engineering the serial protocol, look at post number 18 and you'll see a link to the pdf file on github. It scans clean of malware and is very clearly written. However you find it, it will be useful. While I didn't have my scope analyze for spectral purity (see MHS-5200A YouTube videos for that), I did run the generator through its built in paces. As others have noted, the square wave begins losing its crispness much above 1 MHz, and is pretty "round" by the advertised 6 MHz. Sine waves look pretty good all the way to 25 MHz. Locking the two channels works, all the wave shapes work. Adjusting the duty factor of square waves works. Adjusting the relative phases of the two channels works. Sweeping the frequency works as advertised. The input frequency counter works in its various frequency, period, duty factor, etc., modes, including when feeding back one of the output channels into it, set up prior to moving to the signal input part of the menu. (Not that anyone with a modern digital oscilloscope needs this feature.) I didn't test the rear panel TTL inputs or outputs. I also didn't try saving a setup of the controls into one of the internal memories (probably works). Adjusting the amplitude works, but I forgot to try the offset - I'm sure it works too. I noticed that the square wave has a small "back porch" (slight drop in level near the trailing edge), even at low frequencies, but is within the range of expected signal impurities and would just about never be an issue. Amplitudes and frequencies agreed extremely well between the signal generator and my digital scope. Conclusion; This seems to be the exact same device as the more commonly discussed MHS-5200A, and all the features and functions that I tested work as expected (none involving a computer were tried). It is a great value for what it can do and has even more potential when interfaced to a computer, or if modified for greater spectral purity. Amazon seems to be selling, in the KKmoon, an MHS-5200A under a different name, for a very good price. I saw no issues with the build quality or construction of my unit. Finally, I didn't find the controls as hard to fathom as I expected. They can be a little slow to navigate, but with a few minutes use they seemed fairly natural and required no reference to the manual. The English manual did come in handy preventing a lot of guessing at a few points, so I do recommend it highly.

I was particularly interested in testing two-phase stepper motors. The TTL outputs are perfect for this job. Not only are there two channels but each includes its inverted complement. These four signals are just what's needed to drive a dual H-bridge such as an L298N. Setting the PHASE to 90 degrees creates proper waveforms and turning on the TRACE mode keeps both channels at the same frequency. You can now turn the dial to easily control motor speed. Change the PHASE to 270 degrees to rotate in the opposite direction. The frequency sweep function is handy for ramping up motor speed and testing slew rates. If you have a sensor on your drive train it can be wired to this frequency counter to confirm actual speed. All setups are easily stored in memory for later recall. User interface is better than expected. Build quality is good and the "wall wart" power supply is UL listed for safety. A great buy.

First thing I noticed It was easy to set, Its the easiest to set of My other frequency generators but that Is once You know how to set It, there was some things right out of the box but there were some things I would have Not been able to figure out, I had to go watch some videos to figure It out. To adjust the level at the top of the screen click the bottom left button then push the top right button and do It again to go to the bottom of the screen. To switch channels click the bottom left button then the top left button, To start click the bottom left button then the bottom right button, You must ad just the settings as the frequency before It will start, I thought I got a defective one because I did Not know that. The amplitude power output will Not go to zero volts It goes to from 00.20 volts to 13 volts but It will read 20 volts. Also for the program to work You must have a newer Microsoft Operating System It would Not work with My old Windows XP A quick history about Doctor: Rife cured 16 out of 16 People of cancer In 1934 using am radio frequencies waves through a plasma bulb, but a business partner tampered with the frequencies and They were selling machines that did Not work which gave big drug companies a chance to put Them out of business and In the 1950's Doctor: Crane wanted to reinvent the Rife machine but using Audio frequencies and Tens pads which did Not work as well as the original Rife machine. I bought this because I wanted a 3.3 MHz carrier wave for a Rife machine but I did Not know how easy It Is to adjust. This will work as a Doctor: Clark zapper or Croft zapper It has adjustable voltage up to 13 volts output though It will read 20 volts output the screen shows AMPL short for amplitude voltage that Is the voltage output adjustment. I do Not think It has enough voltage output for Tens pads or any Non metal connection, but It has enough voltage out put If used with metal as Copper or Stainless Steel, Using Copper handles I could feel the voltage at 6 volts and 12 volts I was getting a good zapping and what I always say If You can Not feel It shocking You the Its probably Not doing anything to the pathogens. Also Doctor: Clark said to use a positive offset, on screen says OFFS This can also be used as the frequency generator In the Rife/Doug coil machine, A Technician In a video said this has a ring In the Square wave and put In better parts but I do Not know how much that will effect It. The Spooky2 software program will Not work with this Generator, It did Not detect It, but years a go We were able to out smart that Internet virus company (You know that big company that puts their big genitals where It does Not belong and freezes up Your account for No understandable reason) and I bought a Spook2 generator but became frustrated trying to adjust the settings I tapped the screen with My finger It and broke the LCD screen but the Spooky2 program still recognised It and asked to look for more generators but I have Not tried It yet. Also the Spooky2 booster does Not fit this Generator but all It does Is link the 2 channels together and has a 103 resistor for making Colloidal Silver. It will Not work as a Doctor: Beck, Blood Electrification unit or a Tens machine, both Tens machines and the Blood Electrification unit Is around 50 volts AC output but the Blood Electrification unit Is set around 4 Hz and Is higher amperage than Tens machines, that Is why Tens machines are everywhere at low prices because they do Not have enough amperage to do anything a Tens machine will shock You but does Not even have enough amperage to light a LED bulb...........

Seems to be quite accurate, checked with my Digital Oscope. It comes with a piece of software for Windows. With the software, connected through USB to a Windows computer, it is a lot easier to set parameters. On the other hand, the computer has to be running for the software to be used, duh. Of course! There is however a flaw / bug in the device firmware during power on. At times when powered on, the display is corrupted and so are the control functions. Power off and on again has fixed it in the past. Otherwise, at the price to performance ratio, it is quite usable for some bench projects. I don't know why it sometimes doesn't initializes at first power on. From my own experience in programming micro controller, I guess there isn't enough delay to initialize the micro.

Hardware Great for the Price, but need to have better software sent with the Unit on the small disc. Missing main program and you have to read through all the reviews on this sight to get to the point you can program the unit via the USB cable. A bit shy on documentation but again reading through these reviews and you will be able to get by. It may not directly answer all your questions, but you will come away with enough to be able to use most all of its features. Again it is a very good unit for the price. So because of the poor / missing files I deducted 20% and could only offer 4 stars.

Well worth the money. I was considering building a signal generator until I came across this. Rock-solid waveforms right up to 25MHz. UPDATE: Frequency adjustment stopped working today, one week after the return cutoff date. No way to contact seller. UPDATE 2: Several attempts at disconnecting power and rebooting failed to solve the problem. However, after spending a day on the shelf I decided to attempt some troubleshooting. When I powered it up, it was working to specs again.
