There are a variety of free or low cost apps that walk you through the process. I found the capabilities to be pretty impressive. It allows you to read the computer codes and reset the computer, but it also allows you to monitor the output from any sensor that the computer is monitoring. Some of the apps allow you to create a virtual 'dashboard' showing instantaneous gas mileage, fuel level, but also very esoteric things. Warning: The device does use battery power so don't leave it plugged into your car on a cold night or you could wake up to a dead battery. Hope this helps. see less

I was only interested in the application for Iphone 5. Don't know if it will work on other devices. I think a little research will provide the proper model #.

I left it plugged it for the first 5 months I had the device. I only had one problem with the battery dying but I cannot say for sure if it was caused by the device. It was also after the car had not been turned on for 8 straight days. If you used it every day or every other day you will not have a problem ever.

I've only used this unit with my iPhone, but the unit comes with a mini CD that should have some software...you should also be able to find some options online.

There is not much to say other than it worked well. It took a bit to get the wifi network setup but that is likely related to how long it takes to initialize itself. It is a bit bigger than I would have liked and it would be nice if I could just leave it plugged in but given the power draw, that would not be great for the battery of the car. Overall, it is hard to complain about it unless I really wanted it always plugged in. I have now used it for a number of trips and it is just what the doctor ordered.

This scanner appears to work well but I have had problems with keeping a WIFI connection to it from my phone. I tried other apps on a laptop and two other phones and had the same problem. I am not POSITIVE the scanner is at fault but I can't rule it out either. When it is working, it does a GREAT job at throwing out the error codes, performance metrics and puts out a lot of different data from the vehicle. I still recommend it to anyone looking for a WIFI OBDII scanner! UPDATE: WARNING! You may suddenly become very concerned about your air intake temp hitting 120 degrees and coolant reaching 190. If you're a data dork like me, these numbers can be scary. Also, who knew I was getting only 4 mph when I accelerated uphill? I do now and so I'm pissing off people behind me when I try to keep it at 10mph while crawling up a hill. Ever concerned about how much CO2 you're pumping out? Now you can slake that curiosity and stay up all night worrying about how you're killing the planet. For the love of Christ- if you know nothing about cars like me, make sure you befriend someone who can explain the data you are collecting with this. It's a great gizmo but I'm too stressed and afraid to drive anymore knowing my engine RPMs are in the kabillions and your timing advance is about setting off a small bomb under your hood... many times a second. Great scanner but sometimes not knowing so much really is a good thing.

ITS NOT JUST IPHONE, IT WORKS WITH ANDROID, WIFI IS WIFI... this is my second, I have a blue tooth model, the ELM327 and thought id try this wifi unit. wasn't so to get going, my phone and tablet took right to it like a long lost friend, although I did notice the refresh rate was quite a bit slower than its BT counterpart. my laptop on the other hand, needed some minor setting up, you got to do the port forwarding and make the ip address is okay, its all in the direction included on the disc, with the DEMO program. I only bought this because I have a Samsung tablet that argued with my blue tooth reader, when every other device I have gets along with it.

Seem to be doing what it says. No information came with with the part as far as disk or nomenclature. The password was the challenge. To establish a wifi connection it does require a password, two hours searching the web and Tomtop reviews resulted in no clear password. After random guess work the password was (12345678) I hate passwords. Good luck

Simple to the point. For the price it works GREAT. Everyone in a blue moon I may have a connection issue but unplug it and plug it back in and all works. As for during use I have not had any disconnects or other issues. So once again it does what it says it will and at that price who can complain about anything else.

This Wifi OBD2 adapter worked perfectly in my 2006 mazdaspeed6 and in my 2002 F350 Superduty pickup. It paired up with my BlackBerry Playbook and I use it to run Torque to display engine and emission status as well as read diagnostic codes. My only complaint with the device is it's size. It hangs down a little too far and might get in the way when driving.
