Q

will this work on a 2008 v6 4.0l with a scangauge and a heads up display or only work one at a time?

A
  • Since its an OBDII, it can only connect to one device at a time. CANBUS can connect to multiple.

Q

If I am using it to read speed using two devices, will they read the exact same speed?

A
  • It depends on each device's level of accuracy. I use the splitter for two devices, one is the Garmin ecoRoute HD accessory and the other is for the ScanGauge 2. I found that the speed I am traveling is the same on both of them and 1 MPH higher than the car's speedometer. Should this splitter cause a delay when connected to a tuner/gauge and a dash cam?

Q

Will this let me run my cts2 monitor and my handheld superchips tuner at the same time?

A
  • Probably but it depends on the amount of power each wish to draw from the car. Passive devices like the ELM327 don't need external power but other devices may need it so check with each device to see if it can supply external power or does it depend on the car's OBD-II bus?

There is not much to say about this product since it is a simple splitter. I was able to run my Ultragauge and Progressive Tripsense devices at the same time using this product. It did take some getting used to since it dangles down from the ODB2 port and can be knocked off if you aren't careful. Not an issue after I got used to it.

Why is everyone worried about your progressive snapshot. Progressive usually only does their scanning for like a month. Then you return it.

The cable incredibly substantial. It's much beefier than I imagined. You may need to warm up the plastic to force it to your will. Not too hot though. Just warm. That said, I've found that it might not exactly let you do what you want. If you have two OBD2 devices, they might work together, they might not. If you have a CANBUS device and an OBD2 device, your odds are probably better. If you have two CANBUS devices? I don't know that one. I have a dongle from my insurance company, and I have an ELM327 bluetooth device. They work okay together most of the time. It's been a while but if I recall correctly it seemed like the insurance one (hey, what, it gives me discounts) that one blinks red if I start the car with the ELM327 already attached. Or does it do that if I plug in the ELM327 after it's running? I can't remember. With my brother's insurance dongle, it won't let my ELM327 work, but his doesn't blink red. The cable is great. What you may want to do with it, that's a crapshoot.

It does what is does, used with the Garmin ecoRoute HD Vehicle Diagnostics Communicator HD. That way the ecoRoute is always connected and the dealer can connect to the car's computer.

Have had no problems so far, except that it wasn't a perfect replacement for the OEM cable connector clip. No surprise there.

Work as advertised. Only thing I would complain is the length.. It's a little too long, making it hard to tuck the wires away. It actually interferes with my driving or stepping on the emergency brake.

I would love to use this, but the cables are so stiff that they stick out several inches when this is plugged in. This cable was designed more for durability in a commercial setting, ie. like a garage or engineering situation. It's good if you have lots of leg room but in my case it gets in the way. If you have five inches of room from your connector or if you don't need to leave it plugged in all the time this will work. The company was super to deal with, they deserve six stars. They're in Phoenix so I returned the cable in person. They let me try a right angle cable to see if it would solve my clearance problem. It wouldn't fit because the connector in my car is recessed too far. I bought the cable off their website so they were able to issue me a refund right on the spot. They told me they designed all their cables for durability. And they listen to customer feedback.

Functions just fine. Could be improved if the package came with a way to manage the cables. Until I come up with something, it's just hanging there and, since it's fairly heavy and my OBDII plug doesn't fit things too snugly, it can easily get knocked out.
