How do you get these to fire the camera ? I used them to fire the flash wirelessly, but they won't trigger the camera. Any ideas ?

A
  • First of all, the Yongnuo model you choose is Brand/Model specific. The RF-603NII is for models like D700, D800, D750, D4. The connecting cord pictured is used to connect the remote to the camera port.

Got these to use with my D700, and I have no complaints. If I remember correctly, the cord only needs to be plugged into the camera if you would like to use the other second trigger to activate the shutter via the button on top. I also used these in conjunction with another set of Yongnuo Flash triggers by stacking them on the camera and having one on each of two flashes. It took a little bit of playing around, but overall worked quite well. If you can't get a pocketwizard, these are a great option.

I have this set up on my Nikon d810 with Yongnuo-568EX flash for Nikon and could not get it to work initially. Searched online for solutions and could not find one. Went through all the necessary typical troubleshooting steps ( checked batteries, made sure contacts were lined up correctly, made sure flash was in manual mode, tested the flash, etc ) The unit would not fire the flash, sync cord worked fine as a trigger release, however it would not focus the lens ( I realized pretty quickly it is because I use back button focus on the camera which disables the shutter half press focus operation, once i changed it back it focused the lens fine with the usual half press of the button ) The manual is pretty useless and did not provide much instruction. I then removed the batteries from the trigger and tried changing the dip-switches to another setting other then the factory default, in this case I used setting number 3. I re-connected the triggers to everything and it now works fine.

This wireless Trigger does work for slaving our Nikon D300S camera to to our main Nikon D800 camera (and vice versa), definitely excellent solution for taking "same" picture moments with different positions/angles and lenses. But, regardless of how the flash mode is set in the slave camera, this Trigger does not work with Flash photography because of the apparent time lag in triggering the slave camera's shutter. The Flash units will sync correctly with the main camera but the slave camera shoots "after" the Flash has ended (in all sync modes for Flash on the slave Nikon). This issue may well be due to the internal design of the Nikon cameras and can be solved by providing separate Flash unit(s) for the slave camera.

The first time I bought Yongnuo wireless triggers was with my D700. Since I got them, I've never had any issues. They work at almost any angle. I've even put them in my pocket and it still worked! I've mostly used it with self portraits though, so I can't comment on using them with flash systems. Same with the distance, I've never tried them any further than 10 feet. Now with this new version for the D800, I've never had any issues as well. It's almost the same size as the ones I use with my D700. They are light and small so you can put them in your pocket. They are very easy to use. Just plug and play. I highly advise getting these for the D800 as they don't cost too much compared to the other models out there.

I love this flash trigger. I have been using it for at least a year without fail I work at a magazine and I am using it all of the time. I can't believe how awesome this thing works. It is so versatile It can actually allow you to use two flash systems at once. If you are using strobes in your studio and you run out of light then you can hook these up to more strobes or speedlights and use your flashing system along with them. These things are awesome. I just learned that you can use them as remote triggers. Yes I realize that it says that right in the description but sometimes you space out. I'm even more in love with them now this is better than sliced bread this is awesome. I haven't used them at full 100M but everytime I have used them they work and work and work. I use them on all of my shoots when I'm not in the studio and now since I've found the remote trigger function I'm sending my other remote trigger back and will only be using these. I'm in heaven.

I used these regularly on outdoor and indoor shoots. I use Yongnuo flashes with Nikon D750 and a D7100 and sometimes a Nikon D4. They work flawlessly and have handled quite a bit of abuse. I had one off camera flash set up in a farm field with a truck. Heavy winds took the OCF and blew it almost 100 yards away. It rolled and bounced. The flash and wireless remote were fine and still laying together. It was put back to work about 15 minutes later (with added weight for the stand) and they performed perfect.

I currently use this on my D800. Bottom Line I love this product. To be straightforward, this product can trigger a speedlight and can also become a cable release.

This is an improvement on the already wonderful type 1 trigger. The power switch was moved to the side which allows clear access, if you have a flash mounted. Also, the 2 stage on switch allows you to be able to trigger a flash to meter or test exposure.

The original RF-603 is for Nikon and Canon only. You can also use this device to remotely trigger your camera for selfies. However, in that case you must pay very close attention to which version you're buying, down to the exact camera model. The D5200/7100 requires a different one than the D700/D800. I can recommend this product for cost-sensitive hobbyists, especially for Nikon and Canon, but also for other brands that offer a standard hot shoe.

I purchased these along with some speed lights to start playing around with strobe photography. I picked these up to use as a remote trigger for my camera. These are basically plug and play. The button on the remote trigger works just like the shutter release button on your camera, half depress focuses, full press fires the shutter.

For the price of these triggers, you can't go wrong. I have never had a mis-fire and I like the fact I can use them without having to tack on a receiver to my flashgun. (I have a YN-560 III that has a built in receiver). No issues with these things .

Love these triggers/receivers. Very easy to use, didn't even open direction booklet just popped batteries in, set one to RX and attached it to my Yungnuo flash and one to TX and attached it to my Nikon D700 and did my first shoot with them. Love the results!
