The Wireless Charger "insert" sits between the battery and the back cover of the Galaxy S3 phone, adding the ability to recharge the battery wirelessly (via induction) that is standard on the Galaxy S4. But to actually recharge the phone's battery you have to lay the phone on a Qi-charger (face-up, so that the coil embedded in the Wireless Charger is very close to the coil in the Qi charger). There are many Qi-compatible chargers on the market. The tend to be round or rectangular, a little smaller or a little larger than the phone. Some of them have 2 o 3 coils, to recharge multiple Qi-compatible devices. The one I chose is about as thin and as large as the phone, which makes it easy to carry on trips. The Qi charger connects to a USB port (but best to its own hi-power power supply, to raise the charging current and reduce the charging time). see less

Yes, this is the receiver for the S3 models. It's the one I have and it's great!

I've tried to judge the charging distance between the pad and device, I've found that a rough maximum of 4mm is about as far as you can go from the power source before charging doesn't work.

If it worked all it would not be very efficient. Coil sizes are different diameter.

Dont buy. Ruined my wife's phone!

Not unless the battery and internal construction is the same as Galaxy S3.

If your asking about a mini chip, this has nothing to do with the chip. It is to charge the battery. Our Galaxy S3 use a mini chip, but again that had nothing to do with charging.

I bought this charger because my regular chargers were messing up. I had high hopes for this charger, and I was not disappointed. The only con was that it kept disconnecting on the charging dock, because the receiver has to be placed directly on the charging dock. It took a few seconds to set up, with the directions in hand, it was basically fool proof. It charges at a slightly faster rate than the charger that came with the phone. It is very reliable, and you do not have to get a special backing for the phone, because they original back snaps right into place. By just looking at the phone, it is barely noticeable that there is something on top of the battery. Overall, I would recommend this to everyone. This charger is convenient to have, and there is not a possibility of losing it unless you take out the backing of the phone. Would definitely buy again if I had to!

It is easy to install and works as expected. What I dislike is that it does add bulk to the phone. The back cover will stick out a bit. On top of that I felt the phone a bit heavier. These are the only reasons I gave it 4 stars. The added weight and bulk does not bother me as I do not use any type of case with my phone. My expectations were met so I am happy with the product.

Works great out of the box on S3 from Sprint. Only reason I don't give five stars is, as another reviewer said, item is not as pictured, and does not make very clear that detail. It doesn't really matter to me as long as it works, which it does, but it is a bit lazy, at a minimum, as a seller to not correct that detail. Also as previously reviewed, only a slight bulge in the back of the case when installed. I don't use a case at all so again no effect. I recommend this, the convenience of wireless charging is great!

My charging port got ruined (from my abuse) and before I was ready to figure out a repair option, I elected to try wireless charging. This back cover fits nice and slim. It still fits in my case. I had previously used a battery charger that fit in the original case but that broke almost immediately. However, the generic wireless worked with almost any charging station (as I tried with my friends docking - such as Palm). This back cover only seems to work with Verizon products so far (so I had to go and buy one). It probably works with Samsung products. Like with a car, you pay a little more for original manufacturer equipment, and with electronics it comes with compatibility issues.
