  • I haven't done much streaming on it, However large file transfers do not drop connection and finish in expected times. Overall solid external card for its price.

  • no it has about a 12ft range and barely picks up the WiFi signal 50ft away = keeps Dropping the web - U get what U pay for =/

What driver is required for linux? What chipset is inside?

  • I see a module "r8712u", which is also the driver name shown in the wireless connection information for the working wireless. The situation is complicated by also having a RAlink USB Wireless plugged-in (that doesn't work on any of the 12.04 LTS Ubuntu systems, and is thus un-used).

      It works with Win 7 64 bit. The drivers must be installed from the CD. Do not install the software, just the drivers.

      Windows 8, I had a wired connection onto the internet before plugging this in. With the internet on I was able to just plug this is in and it downloaded the drivers. Has worked great ever since.

      Very well constructed and it actually works. Although the disk containing the driver was damaged - the company replaced the defect in a timely manner. Would recommend this product.

      I used this to put my desktop on my wireless network . it worked flawlessly and fast. Windows 8 was not able to find a driver, but disk installed what I needed and I was up and going in no time.

      For the price you can't beat this! Of course don't expect a 300Mbps is you only have a 10 Mbps subscription! You can't get apples out of grapes! But this will compliment what ever system you have. I put this in my computer case and not outside it. Still gets an awesome signal!
