Questions & Answers
I am a cyclist, and I want to know if I would need a license if I were to use to communicate with a follow car, and other teammates. Could you just use it for a walkie talkie like function without a license?

Yes it did! It is an excellent emergency instrument and I intend to order more. Because of the 5w tx output a repeater is essential over longer distances.

Hi, this is a ham radio. If the ploice frequency is within the radio's frequency band, this radio could be used as a police scanner. Thanks for your attention on this aspects. Sanatop.

This radio does NOT support D-Star. The only commercial radios currently that support D-Star are some ICOM units. 73

The FCC requires you to acquire at technician operators certificate to transmit on these radios. You can easily obtain this by taking a short class at a local Ham radio club.

There are channels that can be used without a ham license . Try local channels set up. For rec use . Same as the kind they sell at Walmart mart cobra, uniden etc. I get about a 2.5 mile range here in Dallas . Good luck

Two sets will include four UV-5E+ transceivers with their charging stands and will all work individually on the amateur bands and also can communicate with each other. Great little units but an FCC amateur license is required.

Couldn't communicate like I thought it would be capable of like a HAM or CB radio, it's defiantly not those, I'd recommend getting a normal walky talky or CB if you want to talk to someone else. I can however get the county emergency broadcast signal and FM radio. I upgraded to a longer antenna. The battery lasts forever on standby, I haven't used it in months and it's still got full charge.

I received the items on time from the seller. The radios are built of good quality and they work fantastic. I am quite happy with these radios for the price. Don't expect them to work like base or mobile units as they only put out a max of 4 watts. Good solid radios though. Now I'm thinking of buying mobile/base units for more power.

I know these get a lot of mixed reviews and mostly about how hard they are to program. Those other reviews only inspired me to learn how to manually program this! Along with learning how to manually program the radio, I learned how to modify the charger base for extending the external power supply for a variety of voltages. The instruction manual that comes with this is pretty much garbage, however, there are multiple manuals online and my favorite was a list of the menu options, what they are, how they work and what settings should be set for HAM radio use.

I bought the radio because several friends also have one and kept telling me how good and rugged it was. I have to say that they are right. I don't have all the extras they do, yet. But even so I am able to connect with them from our individual homes with no problem and we live as far away from each other as 12 miles. I'd give it 5 stars, but I don't believe anything is perfect except Jesus Christ and God's word. So this is about as close as it can get for a man made item.
