Tripod very compact; ideal for transport. Qualitative article, much better than its equivalent at manfrotto, in this price range. Small flat, as for the size, a short hair.

I chose this tripod mainly for its weight and volume, but also for its price more than attractive. Of course it is not free from the most annoying flaws being its system of locking branches a rustic hair and also their angle, with only two options, one with too tight an angle, the other too wide and lack of possibility locking flat. Other defects, the height of the central column forcing to turn the head to get a low position, rubberized feet without retractable metal tip and a bracket compatible Arca Swiss demanding to be slightly filed to accommodate all compatible plates. If not seen my mixed use mid-mountain hikes and long beachfront poses on rough weather on a fairly abrasive granitic coast and often deployed in salt water, I originally played the cheap map thinking whatever the carbon tripod that I was going to buy he was not going to resist very long and well he seems to have exceeded my expectations ... I often disassemble it to rinse it with clear water and I do not have, apart from a few scratches on the carbon and a rust on the hook for the ballast and its return spring, found signs of abnormal wear. It would break or be lost, I think the same where a model very close probably the same manufacturer ... I forgot the main side stability it is doing very well job that I have almost no longer used my tripod pro in aluminum 40 years old ...

I was very excited to have this tripod a few years ago. I really want to bet on carbon, because many trips and backpacks to shoot in different places, so I threw the dice to take advantage of this unknown Chinese brand. I am very satisfied with the light nature of this tripod, but the plates mounted on the base of the camera slide and can not be tightened. It's metal on metal, but sometimes it slides forward and takes away the shots. I thought about sticking the rubber to the bottom, but I have to keep my legs and get a new ball. Ok then about $ 100, what are you waiting for? It's still worth buying, but the camera should not slide into the locking mechanism ...

Update from my original post: I have upgraded from four stars to five after having it out in the field. I found it to be very stable and solid as well as flexible for different shooting situations. Remember though that this is my light travel tripod, but I couldn't be happier for the value I got on this. I tested it against my photo buddy's light Manfrotto travel tripod (Older model) and the Q999C was lighter (his is metal) and more sturdy with less vibration. No contest. I purchased the Q-999C on the recommendation of a friend and have to say I was very suspect of a tripod at this price, but my initial impression is very favorable. I bought it for long hikes or climbs only and it will not replace my heavy duty Manfrotto, but it weighs 7.6 pounds as opposed to this little beauty at 3.1. I've only had it a few days and haven't taken it out for a real shoot yet. I have checked it out very thoroughly in the house. The rated maximum weight is about 17.5 pounds, but I put considerably more than that on it for testing and found it held strong. The legs open and close smoothly and the ball head also moves smoothly. It has nice little extras like a ring on the tripod mount bracket screw to help tighten it to the camera. It has the ability to turn the center post around so you can mount the camera underneath for extremely low angle and macro shots. It has a spring loaded hook on the bottom of the center post for hanging your camera bag or other weights to improve stability. I personally would like it to have the ability to have both the rubber feet and metal spikes, but that is fairly minor. I go into more detail on several points in the attached video, which I hope helps you make a wise decision. Why only four stars. Because I haven't had a chance to field test it yet. After I get it out for a real shoot I'll decide if this should be upgraded or downgraded and I'll add more comments then.

As Goldilocks would say it is "just right"! Very strong, stable and tall enough. I first tried the Q666C like almost everybody else but by the time you pull out the fourth tiny extension legs the tripod became unstable coupled with the fact that it was not tall enough unless you are under 5 feet. Folded this carbon fiber tripod is only 17.5 in. which still fits in backpacks with ease. Super lightweight but three times more stable.. Just right!
