Incredibly stable and robust to use as a monopod stand (in flat position) or as a desktop mini-tripod. The rubber feet have a groove cut out that allows the ball socket (leg) to be almost horizontal with the floor. In all, you have 3 different leg angle settings and it can close fully on itself in normal position or inverted (upwards) around a monopod if you left it attached and wanted to keep the overall length to a minimum. The only non metal part of this stand (aside from the rubber feet) is the plastic tightening knob for the central ball joint - but adequate. The central ball socket is a nice feature to have, allowing a monopod (or camera) be tilted or rotated in any direction. The angle adjusting notches are a little stiff to operate, but in a reassuring way. Whilst the tab to lock down the leg angle is wide and easy to press down on, you only have a small surface area to press on from the underside when you want to release the tab. The screw thread is both 1/4" and 3/8" (the top 6mm section of the screw is 1/4"), which means that you can attach a camera directly and use it as a mini-tripod. In conclusion; As a 'desktop' tripod, it's very good. There are better and more suited to the task (especially if you wanted more height options). As a monopod stand, it's heavier than most - but the sturdiest and best I've ever used!
