I am giving this product 5 stars although I did not get to use it just because I am dumb. Yes I was dumb enough ordering this item without checking my PC's capability. You see, my PC is 8 years old and it has the first generation 1X pci express card, however this card is a newer 4X version that will not fit on my motherboard. The product discription on Amazon states that this card is for 4X and above but I did not know what that meant then. I am not going to return this card because I believe that dumb people should pay for their dumbness.

Although i only got this for my GoPro i feel its more than worth it for the future proofing of my old-ish PC. Went straight in, PC powered up and there it was in Hardware manager. No fiddling about and no issues. You do need to use a SATA power cable for it though, its not powered just from the MoBo. Not a negative, just thought i'd point it out.

Brought this as was having trouble connecting my GoPro Hero 5 to my computer and when it did connect it was taking forever to download the pictures and videos as it was only a USB 3.0 Simply slotted this into my computer connected up the GoPro and instantly it recognised and downloaded all the photos and videos and took a tenth of the time that my previous setup was taking to import everything

this is ideal if your motherboard doesn't have a USB 3.0 header on it for ports on your case, this is the reason I bought this as my new motherboard didn't have the header. it does the job perfectly, but bear in mind it does need a molex power connector so it makes it a bit harder for cable management enthusiasts lol. but very good value for money and I would recommend 100%

This expansion card is exactly as advertised. It is very small, has two USB 3.0 sockets on the back and a header on the board and takes a Molex (LP4) connector for extra power. The card itself is very small and the blanking plate is a nice matte black (which looks out of place on the PC I'm working on, but that's not the maker's fault!). Drivers are provided on a small, unlabelled CD, so make sure you have an optical drive to read it or prepare to look for the drivers online. By now (2017), drivers should be provided on USB sticks, but that's a criticism that should be levelled at all manufacturersz, not just Dodocool. In short, it's small, it works, it's a good'un!

Installed on a old 9 year old motherboard that only had USB 2.0 to bring it up to speed (excuse the pun). Simple to fit into PCI-E x1 slot. Came with a low-profile adapter and mini installation CD. Drivers were not automatically installed on my Windows 7 PC but once I ran the installation CD the USB 3.0 ports worked fine. I tested it with a 'extreme' Sandisk USB 3.0 flash drive and got the expected performance. According to the driver info, the chipset is made by VIA Technologies.

OK, so I've only plugged it in 5 minutes ago but couldn't have been easier. I had checked my pc yesterday to ensure I had a free PCI socket and a free 4 pin power connector. I then ordered the card and it arrived 24 hours later. Plugged it into the PCI slot, connected the power cable and restarted the computer. Worked straight away. My PC is ancient. I built it so long ago I can't remember but it's running an Athlon 620 so 2010ish? The mobo is running SATA 2 and USB 2. I'm a photographer and produce ridiculous quantities of large images. Transferring 16Gb of images from camera to computer was taking a while and I was also running a 3Tb external hard drive, both requiring the use of USB ports. This USB 3 card has extended the life of a serviceable pc. Now I know it works I'll buy a one of those floppy bay expansion devices (yes my case has a floppy bay) and feed off this card's internal ports, which hopefully also works. Watch this space. My external hard drive now keeps up with my SATA 2 internal drive. The box arrived with a standard bracket and a optional low profile bracket. Haven't used the driver disk, window 8.1 doesn't appear to need it. It didn't have the bracket retaining screw but I had one knocking about from a firewire card I took out. Goodness knows why I bothered with firewire but once upon a time it looked useful. I shall adjust my review at a later date should I have any problem with the internal header. Otherwise recommended.
