I was a little worried when I ordered this because of the negative reviews it had received. I am not a guitarist, however, my three year old son wanted a guitar like daddy, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money but (also being a musician myself) I wanted a real guitar that wouldn't kill my ears. Some of the reviews I read said that you can't tune it and that it won't stay in tune, this is not true. On the back of the guitar there are white knobs that you twist to tighten the strings. You have to tighten the screws that holds these white knobs in place to make it tight enough to keep the strings tight to tune it. Once I tightened these screws it holds its tune just fine, even 4 months later. The strings are loose on purpose (so as not to warp the neck while it's shipping or when it's not being used) this is something that we do for my husband's expensive guitars, so expect to tighten the screws and then tighten the strings. It is a real guitar, it can be tuned, and my kiddo loves it. Does it have a rich and beautiful sound, well no, but it's a $20 guitar, so I wouldn't expect it to have a magnificent sound, but it doesn't sound tinny or horrible (like some of the kid guitars with plastic strings that are not adjustable). It is the perfect fit for a toddler (it was a present for his third birthday) and it will last him for a few years. The only "complaint" that I have is that the sticker around the hole is easy to peel off, but that's purely cosmetic and to be expected with a curious three year old. I love the fact that you can change out the strings if you one breaks or if you simply want nylon strings. I would highly recommend this guitar for any child that wants a real guitar and any parent who doesn't want to spend a lot.
