Patented dodocool Portable Power Bank External Backup Battery Charger 12000mAh

I bought this to replace a previous model (not this make) that no longer worked. I love that it has lights so I can see how much charge is left in it and indeed, how much it has charged when I have it plugged in. The on off switch is really good and allows me to see how much charge is in it at any time. The on off switch doesn't switch on in your handbag either (unlike my previous model). I would recommend this.

This is a review of the 12000mAh battery, kindly provided to me for review purposes. If like me you've got a fairly recent battery guzzling phone then you'll know how annoying it can be to be out and about and running low on power. After 2 years of use my current phone, a HTC One X, only just makes it through the day on a full charge if I don't use it much, so I can appreciate the need for a product such as this. As this is an external battery you don't need to worry if you're mobile is sealed (so you can't swap the battery out) you just plug your phone (or mp3 player, camera, tablet etc) in and it starts to charge. I like the style of the battery, it looks a bit like an extra large iPhone. There are 3 connectors at the top, two for use in charging things, one to charge the battery. Depending on what you're plugging in this battery should be large enough to give you 3 - 5 full charges, with lights on the front indicating how much charge is left in the battery. The only minor downside to such a battery is the additional weight you'll be carrying around. It takes a bit of getting use to if you pop it in your jacket pocket, but it wouldn't be especially noticeable if you were to carry it round in a bag/briefcase/laptop folder. Great product for those on the go who want to ensure they don't need to rush to a wall socket to top up gadget batteries.

Love this product. With my battery life not so good I need to charge my phone mid way during the day. It charges really quickly and the torch is quite bright.

I got this product for V Festival as it's impossible to keep your smart phone charged the entire time you're there and with me running my iFestival app there I'd use my battery even more. I've owned similar devices before and always had mixed results but the Dodocool product is really good quality and sturdy which is important when lugging around in my backpack. My intention is to leave the device in my tent and charge my phone once a night and keep it on charge during the morning. Having tested the device prior to it I've found that i get just over 4 full charges and also some trickle charges (for charging while i use) so the product description of 5 full charges is certainly accurate. The device is a bit big to carry in your pocket but i never intended to carry it around at the festival with me anyway. Highly recommend for anyone spending time outdoors either camping or at a festival. Just make sure you take your charging cable as this doesn't come with them.

Really good item! Delivered within 4 days and works perfectly! Only down side is it takes a long time to charge the pack initially but otherwise it's great and gives a good 4 full charges to my phone. Should prove extremely useful at festivals! Great item.

as a fairly new customer i was impressed with the portable power pack it does what it says it keeps my phone charged up if i out for long periods and it was delivered with in 24hrs i could not ask for any more very impresed

I've owned the Power Bank for about a month and I'm continuously impressed by it. It's somewhat larger than my iPhone 5s (about the size of some of the largest smartphones) and considerably heavier, but matches the design aesthetic. The charge indication LEDs are innocuous like in older MacBooks. And speaking of MacBooks, the dodocool has almost twice the capacity of my Retina MacBook Pro (12000mAh vs 6330mAh). That's enough to charge whatever you need however many times you need. I charge it less than once a week and use it to top up my iPhone, Kindle Paperwhite, ecigarettes, and the occasional USB gadget. It's simply excellent. By the way, I recommend using the dodocool Apple Certified 2-in-1 Lightning 8pin+Micro USB Charge/Sync cable ( http://www.amazon.com/Certified-dodocool-Lightning-connector-Smartphones/dp/B00J3LU1FG/ref=pd_bxgy_cps_text_y ), which is equally well-designed, aesthetic, and well-made.

This is a large capacity external battery. It is powered by 12000mAh Samsung Li-Polymer battery. I was able to fully charge my phone three times without recharging the battery. I tested Dodocool 12000mAh Power Bank with Nexus 5 phone, Samsung Galaxy 7.7 tablet and iPadMini. All ports worked for all three devices. The battery showed best performance for the phone (above average speed on port 1A), and slightly below average speed for the tablets on both ports. I own a number of external batteries and to compare them I run the same set on tests on each of them, so they can be compared to each other using "apples to apples" comparison. This set of tests allows me to provide unbiased comparisons between different external batteries. For those who are interested in the details of the tests I including them at the end of this review. The Dodocool battery pack is 6" long, 2.875" wide, and 0.375" thick. It weighs 9.7 oz. It has an on/off button on the side as well as automatic shut off when not in use. This battery pack has two ports labels 1A and 2A. It comes with a USB/micro USB cable. To charge iPad Mini and Galaxy Tablet I used my own charging cables. Note error in product description: Even though the Amazon description states that this battery has a built in flashlight (turned on by a long hold) the power bank does not have a flashlight. ★ How I tested this battery pack ================================== I use a USB current monitor and a charging test to test each port. The current monitor shows the voltage and the current flowing between the battery and the device. The current varies based on what the device requires and what battery provides. This communication happens using different protocols depending on the operating system. Newer Android OS versions have adapted their protocols to get better performance from ports aimed at Apple devices. An addition variable for Android devices is whether a data cable or charging cable is used to charge the device. The charging cables short the two data connections together (rendering them useless for data transfer), but this fools devices to see the cable as an AC power connection, and thus accept the higher current of the charging source. Since the charging speed is non-linear I start charging each device from approximately the same charge level. I use Battery App by Elvison to determine how each device recognized the charging source. 'AC' status means the charging is at full charging rate. 'USB' status indicates charging at a lower charging rate. This battery pack is beautifully packaged with a Slim line style of case. It is a battery pack rated at 12000 mAh of capacity and capable of charging two devices simultaneously. I put together a video of the unit and the test results for your review. The battery weighs in at 9 3/4 ounces. The battery pack has two USB output ports that output 5 VDC at 1 Amp and the second one outputs 5 VDC at 2.1 Amps. This is ideal to allow you to charge two devices at the same time and one of them can be a tablet that requires 2.1 Amps to charge quickly. During the testing the temperature of the battery pack never even exceeded ambient room temperature. To start your device charging you connect it with the proper cable and press the battery pack power button and charging starts. The charging will stop automatically when your device is fully charged or the battery pack is depleted. This product is a good performer and I rated it at 5 stars. If you are a business person or a student and have to depend on your tablet or smart phone for long periods of time without the ability to get to an AC power source then this is a good battery to own. This is good for those who travel a lot or camp out. Now you can watch your movies or listen to your music on those long airline flights. You should note that I did not operate my tablets while I charged it. When I test a battery I do an extensive set of tests that fully charges the battery and then I use it to charge devices and make sure that it is fully depleted when my tests are done. I time each test and document the results as the test progresses. I then calculate the mAh of capacity that the battery supplied and I then calculate its charging efficiency. This process takes from 3 hours to, in very large batteries, about a day for testing. I don't take any short cuts or guess and every battery has these tests performed on it and documented. This is to assure that the battery is tested and it performs well. If a battery has performed poorly I then run the tests again to verify the results.
