No. It has a scoop to measure the coffee. I am happy with Café Bustelo® Espresso Coffee it is relatively inexpensive. I don't think they advertise.

Yes it is very easy to clean. When you take it apart you have access to all parts so it is no problem.

This tiny thing produces liquid gold. It's really easy to use & the espresso tastes great. I couldn't believe how similar it tastes to an espresso shot from Starbucks. Its a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be.. fits right in my purse. I will be using this in the mornings at work and I can't wait!

I've used this a few times now. Once at home and twice at the office. It is pretty easy and fun to use. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. The hand pump action is not that difficult to activate. Although I have locked it while pumping the coffee by accident..ha. The espresso that is made is pretty nice and is close to what an espresso machine would make (in my opinion). Cleaning is not that difficult, I run clean water through it once, then take it apart to wash. Getting the grounds out is a bit of a chore but not too difficult. The only reason I'm taking 1 star off is that it can be difficult to get all the coffee out. After I've pushed until I get no resistance, it feels like the coffee is still trickling out. Also, I've found that if you tip it the wrong way, water can come out of the pump or even the top (water tank). These are just minor gripes. If you want something to make a quick and easy espresso, I'd recommend this.

At home I am always using my Nespresso daily even twice a day to get my fix. I love espresso and when I saw this portable option I leaped at the chance to order this and try it out. I travel multiple times a month and even when I am going to work daily I have a long commute in the city. I love having this compact manual espresso maker with me as all you need is water and coffee powder. It's as easy as that. The instructions are diagrammed and detailed so there's no guessing needed. I feel this would be the perfect gift for anyone but especially if they need espresso daily. The measuring cup is so cute and fits fight in the machine for transport. In regard to maintenance just run components through running water and wipe dry - no dishwasher.

Overall a good espresso maker! Makes a pretty good shot of espresso, portable, comes with a little carrying bag it all easily fits into and red straps you can replace the black ones with on the product, easy to clean, mostly easy to use. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is it's a little messy! It was hard to get some of the parts to align perfectly, so water spilled out and once the main bit of espresso came out, more liquid slowly pooled on the top and spilled over unless you immediately open and clean it out. The pump to pump out the espresso into the cup has a locking mechanism that would stick some when I was pumping, but it was just a quick turn to get it back unlocked. Overall an great product!

Honestly I thought this would be hard to use because it looked very complicated after removing it from the box, this was one instruction manual I wanted to read. Easily enough you add ground coffee then fill with hot water and extract; if you want to make frothed milk that's even easier. Included are five recipes and instructions on how to disassemble and thoroughly clean it. I really like strong coffee and the portability of this coffee maker is convenient and I can't wait to take it with me on my next trip, camping included.

Love this. Makes making an expresso way easier than my stovetop expresso maker. My only complaint is that I wish it was easier to screw on the top onto the water tank. I often burn my hands with the boiling water. Also I wish that you could make a double shot of expresso as it would save me a lot of time.

This is a gift for my dad on Father's Day and he loves it. He has been using it even at home non-stop. We think it makes exceptional espresso considering the price-- definitely a plus to carry with you when traveling. There are plenty of how-to-use videos on YouTube if you are unsure. I recommend watching one or two before you start using your mini espresso. Many of them have tips to prolong the life of your machine. For me, I just found using a medium grind gives the best result. Fine grinds tend to make it hard to push on the piston.Based on my personal use, and comparing it with reviews for other machines, I believe this one is just as good.

I bought this because I drink like 5 shots of espresso a day and wanted to save money without having to purchase a pricey automatic machine. As an ex-barista in fancy cafes, I'm pretty picky with my espresso, but I find It does well for what it is. Absolutely make sure you get decent beans that are ground correctly, and experiment with your process until you land on a good shot, as the many variables here make it easy to under or over extract. So far I'm happy with it. My one negative is that I find hot water leaks out very easily, and I've lightly burned myself a couple of times. This seems to be because the water tank/container slides (as opposed to screws) on with a light vacuum seal, and the pressure from the steam coming off the boiling water slowly pushes it off again. So, when you flip over the device to start pumping out the espresso, boiling water leaks out the gaps and runs onto your hand and onto the counter. Because of this I try to hold it in place with my hand, but that can make the manual pumping logistically challenging. Hopefully I'll just get the hang of it. One thing I like is how portable this device is, so I can take it with me during the day and make decent espresso for cheap both at home and at work.
