  • this is not for phantom, its made for walkera quads!! anyway you can try to make a plate to make it works.

Q

i have installed this on my qrx350 and i have controls on my devo f12e to make the camera tilt and roll, but how do i get it to turn left and right?

A
  • According walkera you should be able to control yaw through their gcs software. This in my experience was not the case. The gimbal itself only seems to have leads for roll and pitch control. I don't think g controlling yaw is actually possible despite walkera's claim and you will need to rely on the vehicles yaw .

Q

Would this work on my Phantom 2? Where can I buy the adapter to install it to it?

A
  • G-3D may not work with Phantom 2. G3-3H is recommended for Phantom 2.

Q

Is it good to be used as a handheld gimbal?

A
  • I don't know because it was used with Tali h500 hexacopter. This gimbal only works In that position (with main board above) of the camera.

Can i use it on the 3dr iris+?

  • This gimbal should work on any drone that can provide power (3s, 11vdc more or less) and can physically lift the gimbal and camera. The gimbal itself does not need any other connections (besides power) to provide a nice stable camera platform. You simply aim the camera at the level and tilt angle you want on power-up, and the gimbal attempts to keep it that way throughout the flight. The camera should be about the same size and weight as the GoPro Hero 3/4 for proper gimbal balance. If you want to move the gimbal (i.e. aim the camera in flight with R/C control commands) then the drone's R/C system will have to provide the extra channels (pan, tilt) to interface with the gimbal, which takes standard servo-type control input. You can also add a second lightweight R/C receiver, powered by the drone's battery, to control the gimbal with a second transmitter (which is nice if you have a second operator to act as a cameraman). You can probably find out what auxiliary control capability the iris R/C system has in its manual, or by checking user forums for people who are flying this drone. Hope this helps =) Good luck! see less

Q

Why does the kit include "yaw" cable with nowhere to plug in? Data port has roll, pitch and ground. Who would want to "roll" their cam? Yaw = useful

A
  • Sorry I can't be of help, it was too long ago. Did get gimbal to work after much investigating youtube and Walkera (who's not of any help). Good Luck

I purchased Tali H500 drone with F12 E remote. It came with this Walker G-3D gimbal system which is awesome for most part. It worked immediately after attaching. I have both I look 1080 camera that came with and go pro. Upon, firing up I could control Roll and Tilt from my remote. It worked perfectly was smooth, fast to move and 100% balanced out of box. I needed no adjustments. However, it is tedious to make adjustments. Lots of coding using one button and synching with various colors to know which feature you are balancing. It worked reading instructions step by step, but a bit archaic and complex. You have to twist two knobs called Pit and Roll to adjust how far u want it to tilt out etc. Plus, to adjust you either need a mirror or flip it over while power is on and the gimbal goes haywire while u making adjustments since not level. The downside to this G3D 3 axis is that you cannot control 3 axis. Only really two by remote. I thought mine was broken, but turns out you CANNOT make camera move/look left or right. U only control it moving up and down (roll) and Tilt which is camerea twisting diagonal. The tilt doesn't need to be used much but up and down camerea roll is vital. WHY the walkera doesn't allow remote to turn camerea toward left or toward right is puzzling. It has a Horizontal YAW motor on the gimbal...which is what would control the camera moving left horizontally or right. Apparently this motor and yaw feature is only for auto stabilization. It will automatically adjust camerea while flying to keep it stable, less shakey and straight. Better films. But, only way I know of to turn the camera left or right angled is by using remote throttle to turn front of my actual drone toward left or right while flying in mod air. Then, camera follows since it sits in straight default mode anyway. Kinda sucks, i cannot control camera using horizontal motor. Why have it then? It's a powered motor. It COULD control it just like the roll and Tilt do. But, the power instead is used to auto adjust the camera to counter any unbalance or shakes while flying. Oh well. Learn to fly awesome and it won't be a problem...just aim left or right to where you want to shoot and gimbal up and down roll accordingly.

Just got this for my Tali H500 that I built from scratch. Going to try an ILook camera that I already have, then maybe later get a GoPro.

G-3D gimbal works fine with GOPRO Hero 3+ attached. Company provided free fast shipping when purchased. Only reason not having 5 stars is gimbal is not heavy duty and care must be taken while using, otherwise it does the job at a reasonable price.

It's a great stabilizing gimbal. My only complaint is that you can not set it up to control the pan functions (look left/right) from the remote. Otherwise, it does a great job.

overall very good gimbal...maybe a bit on the weak side for a GoPro Hero4 which is heavier.....also which there was a computer interface for programming the gimbal....using the little knobs is tedious to make adjustments
