I would return the scope for the 1008C because it comes with an inductive ignition pick up for the same price, plus it does not have the Chinese character problem. If you are unable to return the scope then you can use this work around. If you are unable to return the scope then you can use this work around. First, launch the software WITHOUT the scope being connected to your computer. Then connect the scope after the software is launched, you should see an 8 channel wave form. Next, press control and n together; click on the highlighted button on the next to pop ups. A new scope window should open and then you can follow the enclosed instructions that came with the scope to select English. This time the English option won't be grayed out. see less

I am not sure about this. I will be using it again very soon and will repost with explanation in English. You could go on line and download the instructions/ It does work OK but I haven't worked out how to make data readings from saved material.
