Really nice little light, digital output control (from Off to Full - in 11 steps if you count the Off mode) and chucks out impressive amounts of light. The output is quite "wide" (rather than being a tighter beam) even with none of the included diffusion/adjustment filters inserted so if you're after a more-spotty kind of light for creative-control reasons then this might not suit your needs. I picked this one for compatibility with Sony NP-FV series batteries (so I'm only using one battery format for both my camcorder and light), and it is indeed compatible with them just fine. It's a bit fiddly to get the smaller NP-FV70 battery pack out unless you remove the rear battery cover (which is there to hold in AAs) but fine once you pop that off. The big high-cap NP-FV100s are tall enough that you can take them out with the rear cover left in place. To remove the battery, slide it to the right and slightly angle it up at the right-hand end (tilt it to the left) to get it to release. I am using this with third-party NP-FV100-compatible batteries (a set of DSTE ones which came with a mains charger) and the combination are great together. With this light I can mix and match with the smaller-lighter NP-FV70s I have for my camera as needed. Using NP-FV batteries in this light does seem to slightly push against the pins for the other Sony battery format this can take (not sure what type-name, but it's the longer round pins for the batteries which have round contacts further apart) - this has slightly bent those pins outward, so you might run in to issues if you wanted to swap between totally different battery types in the same light. It's a total non-issue for me because I've standardised on NP-FV for both my camera (Sony HDR-CX265) and light, but it might be useful for someone else to know this. The battery-level test button does give varying results depending on how bright the light is set to. A battery that shows 5-lights-full when the light is Off, drops down to 3-lights-full when it's on full blast (at least for me with what I'm fiddling with at my desk - I did use that battery a bit last night and haven't recharged it since then). But at least it will help you keep track of which batteries are Basically Flat vs Plenty Of Life, so it's nice to have. Comes with a ball-head adaptor which acts as a standard camera shoe-mount and also allows you to mount it to a lighting stand (or tripod, or anything with a 1/4" thread) with plenty of angle adjust. The little metal pin connecting the tension-screw to its small black plastic handle-thing was loose on mine and prone to falling out, but nothing a little dab of superglue can't fix. At this price point for a good product with otherwise no problems, I am very comfortable accepting that trivial little snag.

Extremely good value video light. At the price this is currently selling for it is virtually a disposable light! Of course that isn't much good if it's rubbish. This light is very bright considering it's price and a couple of these would be fine for most interview type situations. It doesn't appear to have any serious flaws ie. colour cast or flickering. The build quality isn't amazing but it's perfectly adequate if looked after. It also runs for well over two hours on one of the larger sony-style rechargeables. It's also really quite small - not much larger than a large model smartphone and about a centimetre thick. It would be very easy to carry two or three of these in a portable kit. It comes with a basic cold-shoe ball mount. You could add some sort of clamp with a 1/4" connection the whole thing would be very small.

Good at what it does, for close-range additional light. Better if you don't use panasonic battery packs as they don't fit without an adaptor. In my case I used standard AA cells. Get yourself a reflector too, so you can bounce daylight around as a fill light during the day (which this would never compete with for brightness), and only use this at night, or indoors.

From what I have experienced with this light it is very good, great in fact. However I'm not sure whether this is just a fault on mine or a design problem but for whatever reason whenever I put this together the alignment of the light is never straight, it's always a tiny bit out. For such a little thing to be out of place it is annoying for me but this however does not alter the performance of the overall product. Again I am not sure whether this was just with my purchase but the instructions were pretty non-existent for me, yes I knew it was pretty self-explanatory but I would rather use one battery rather than 6 AA batteries while using this and not knowing what battery I need is a little pain. They are my only problems with this product as the actual LED battery indicator light is blinding on it's own and when the actual light is on full power all I can say is WOW. This light is great for my little projects for YouTube and I can't fault it! Whether it's mounted on one of my tripods or on my camera I always get the right amount of light I need for my shot! Pros: Light is amazing, cannot fault it. Cons: Whether it's a defect or design flaw my mount never straightens directly up and instructions were non-existent when it came to alternate battery size.

I'm old and not a very serious photographer. In days gone by I also avoided 'lighting' as it seemed complicated, cumbersome and expensive. Bought this for a particular video shoot using my new Canon 700D. More experienced photographers will be aware of such lights, and the pros will spend much more, but to me this came as a revelation (pardon the pun). Cheap and highly funtional. A professional videographer at the shoot borrowed it for most of the time, that's how useful it is.

When buying a light on the cheaper side sometimes you will have quality issues but this product has really impressed me, its very strong and lasts a decent length of time without drainging the batteries. Overall a decent buy for the price. Good: Strong light Decent filters Small and durable Bad: Takes several batteries and comes with no charger/batteries or anything although there is a battery slot in the back for a battery pack seems to be a cheap knock off version, but does work
