I have used it many times for surveys without calibration, so I can only ASS U ME its acurate. Nothing to compare it too, so in my eyes, it's accurate intil somebody tells me otherwise!!

It does not read in lumens. It only reads Lux (Luminus Flux) and FC (Foot Candles) and the value will decrease with increasing distance from the light's source. Look up "Lumens" on the internet for a very good explanation of light measurement.… see more It does not read in lumens. I have used this for photography and hydroponics gardening. I would imagine this can work for car headlights when placed directly in front of the headlight, but because the sensor is meant for a broad setting instead of pinpoint accuracy it wouldn't work perfectly for individual bulbs.

Not particularly high tech feel, and more complicated than needed for me. Working out from the obstructions how to do timed readings would be hard - not needed by me. Instructions not especially easy to follow. Don't forget to take the black plastic cover off for simple lux readings. However, once I clicked easy to use.

This is a very inexpensive Lux meter that performs a single task very well: as other reviewers have stated, the instructions leave a lot to be desired, but if you have to take Lux readings for lighting checks, part of H&S nowadays, this will do the job accurately and simply, letting you ignore whatever potential bells and whistles it might otherwise possess.
