Yes it does have a compass. I use it with a APM 2.8 flight controller, and the RTH function works very well. (Within a 2 foot accuracy radius.) The compass half will but not the GPS at least I couldnt get it to work with mine

I don't know if we have the same one as I don't know what you mean about the colors. However, solid normally means that it has a good GPS lock on enough sats. Flashing means that it's still trying to acquire sats.

No it doesn't I am assuming where the cable is forward I have not hook it up yet but GPS seems to be working

I did not use a bec and powered APM from esc and plugged it into top ports on APM and it worked. I do not know if bec will make a diff.

5v. The board has a ldo regulator on it to drop the voltage to 3.3v. It has also worked for me connected to 3.3v supply as the neo6 works down to about 2.2v. The ublox website has the data sheet and command list.
