You will also have to take into account what type of battery you have. A deep cycle battery can be discharged almost fully without damage; a standard car battery will be killed if discharged more than just a few percent. In any event once discharged a battery must be charged back up immediately, don’t let it set for long in a discharged condition. see less

The meter will not zero out each time you shut off the key. There is a way to reset it, but it is not automatic.

This device is used to measure the level of charge of your battery. The C connection is connected to the switch for the device, usually a golf cart. When the switch is turned off, the device is turned off. When the switch; is turned on, the device shows the level of charge, much like the fuel gauge in a vehicle.
