I'm not familiar with older Tamiya cars but I assume you just glue/tape the receiver down somewhere out of the way. but do check the plugs to see if they are the same

There could be a possibility but dew to not having tested the unit out i hesitate to say yes and end up not working and than you may or may not have use for the reciver and tx combo.

I don't know the answer, but how is the range. The range on mine is less than 100 feet. I've been told it should be over 150 yards.

I bought this car for my wife's race car, her race cars are Traxas Slash 2WD Nitro Short Range and Trxxas Slayer Pro 4x4 Nitro Short Range. The radio works well and is very easy to understand. This is a great radio, perfect for competing in a club race or just enjoying RC fun in the backyard or wherever you choose to run RC. They have also made other models that offer more features for people who need more adaptability.

The installation is completed in 5 minutes. Dial control for another 5 minutes. It feels super light. When I drop it, it breaks, but I feel that the spring of control is firm. It is beautiful along the street, without trembling. I'm happy with that, just put on a bracelet. Perfect simple controls.

I have an old optimal kyosho method that rejuvenates it and works well. Initially it had an older Futaba radio and a receiver shot. I replaced it with it and it worked fine. The receiver is so small that it saves space in the case. The only problem I encountered was converting the old servo pin connector to the new used version. This problem can be solved by cutting the end of the extension and soldering it to the old servo cable.
