It's a screw-top. Hold the claws and spin the base counter-clockwise. I put a bar through the base loop to make it easier to tighten/loosen

I love this grapple hook. This one has managed to help me climb trees taller than my house with no breaking bending or slipping. Others have failed to grab the branches or a claw will break off, but this seams indestructible. I recommend this grapple for any climber who wants reliable equipment and outstanding performance.

I am an avid hiker and backpacker who also has a bug-out bag for emergencies. I bought this grappling hook in case I needed to climb or hang something. To be honest, I am not a professional climber, but this hook can supposedly hold up to 750 lbs -- more than strong enough for a person. I paired the hook with a sturdy paracord and looked up how to tie it. Next, I had to practice how to swing the hook so that it would attach to my intended area up on the rocks, and I was then able to climb up without issues. Great! The product was easy to fold back up and put into the included pouch, and it now sits in my emergency bag in case I ever had to use it. The omly gripe I have is that it's quite heavy, but at least it's heavy-duty. If you found this review helpful, please hit the "Yes" button to encourage me to write more. Thank you!
