While I am not a touring concert pianist, I am a very advanced pianist and am constantly preparing and memorizing repertoire for performance. I travel quite a bit for work and wanted a way to practice while on the road. I purchased a similar roll-up keyboard a few years ago but it only had 61 keys and did not really work that well. I noticed that 88 key models recently became available so after doing some research decided to go with this Jianxiu 88 key model. First let me say that I have only had it in my possession for an hour or so. It was delivered in terrific condition in a timely manner. You should know that it does not have any internal sounds so you will need some type of piano software to get any use out of it. I prefer this as I have some of the best piano software ever produced. The main difference that I see between this model and the others is that its key bed is raised a little which I find to be a really good feature. Functionally, I do not think I could ask for more from a device like this. It is powered over USB so no need to worry about a wall wart of any kind which makes it easier to travel with. I use Cakewalk Sonar as my DAW software and it works perfectly with it as a midi keyboard. The keyboard is sensitive so unintentional notes do get inputted but I have to say it is not that bad really and I can live with it. I should be able to input notes with it quite easily when needed for compositional purposes. When I use the keyboard for practicing, I use any one of the pianos that ship with Native Instruments Kontakt 5. You will want to make sure that you have an ASIO capable sound card. I use Behringer's U-Control UCA222. It goes for about $30. Otherwise, if you stick to the typical windows device driver model sound card, you will most likely be subject to an annoying delay (latency) between when a key is pressed and when a note is heard. I do not think it is possible to play even a well known work at a high speed on this keyboard and I believe it would be difficult to do on any of the other models as well. The important thing for me is that it has 88 keys, provides stable note entry and forces me to go slow which really helps to solidify my memory for performance. When taken in context, I feel this device is a fantastic tool to have for both DAW composition and piano practice when mobile.

I have used this piano at least once a week for 11 months on a Macbook Pro laptop with Windows 8 (my Macbook is bootcamped). In other words, while I use a Macbook Pro (which natively runs Mac OS X), I run the piano using Windows 8. Since the keyboard does not come with speakers, I use EveryonePiano which is able to detect this MIDI device after installing the drivers. Pros: - Exactly as advertised: 88 keys, rolls up, and works as a MIDI device. - After a year of use, no keys have broken. Cons: - WARNING. Drivers come on a MiniDisc (CDs have a 120mm diameter, MiniDiscs have a 64mm diameter) . Some computers cannot read MiniDiscs (for example, the Macbook Pro). I could not find the driver available online. - You may accidentally double tap the white keys and miss the black keys. The white keys have very little space between the top of the key and the trigger for the note, so it is easy to accidentally double tap a white key if your fingers are slightly shaking. The black keys, however, are raised above the white keys with some empty space between the key and the trigger for the note; this means that if you strike the black key at an angle you may not fully trigger the note. A year after using this product (and I admit that I also practice on an acoustic piano when available), I have not adjusted to the keys. - The instruction manual is very poorly translated into English.

I took a bit of doing to be able to actually play it - and occasionally you have to 'reload it" because the sound goes away - but its fun and our friends and family members have enjoyed playing with it! Might bring it into the office for a little entertainment here!
