The item works well on or off my camera without any leads it is much better than my none ttl flash i have been using this for a while now and i am very happy with it the power of the flash can be adjusted by three stops either way and that goes up in one thirds .I accepted this product from the seller at a discounted price in exchange for my unbiased review.

If you're looking for a Manual/Automatic flash, this is the one to get. Quick recharge time coupled with Manual/Automatic controls make this the flash to buy. The threads are plastic,This is a really great flash for those on a budget, and if you just want one flash to get you through those sessions where you really need it - hit the buy button. This flash seems to work fine with all types of batteries, but the better the battery the better the performance.

I did some research and bought this upgraded version... I tested it with my Canon 1ds Mk3 and a 5D Mk2. No problems at all. Obviously the flash settings can be changed on the unit too, and the LCD is very good, with a bright back-light when needed. This flashgun performs very well indeed. My primary purchase was to use this as a second flash on a radio trigger and as a back-up. I've now decided to buy two more and not bother with the other flashguns from the camera manufacturer.

Having recently purchased my Canon 60D, I was resorting to using folded paper on the built-in flash to soften the brightness (while adding bounce ) to my photos; it worked pretty well, but there were signs of synchronization issues (imagine that!). The LED screen is clear to understand; The on-off switch is a slider switch - I initially would've liked a momentary switch, but the benefit of the slider is that it prevents the flash from being inadvertently turned on in the bag.
