I got this set because I commute daily by bike. I'm used to turning around a lot, but in heavy traffic and with a heavy backpack, it's not the most effective (or safe) method if you just need a quick check around your shoulder. Save that for turning, passing someone or merging on/off the main road (ie. check your blind spots just like with driving). I am on a particular stretch of road for about half my commute that many cyclists believe is either a race track or a place to go 2 abreast and chat it up. I'm fine with people going fast, but they're dangerous in that they often do not announce their presence and pass too close to be considered safe. I try to bike defensively, and other cyclists are often more of a danger than cars.
