  • Dear David. Your connections seem to be all right. It should work. I believe the remotes that come with the system are already properly coded. Use a multimeter and check the continuity of all your wires. Make sure you do not have any dead end. Mainly the one that goes through the fuse. Good luck.

Q

Any tips installing this in a 96 Dodge Ram (5 wire reverse polarity locks)?

A
  • Get lock/unlock wires from www the12volt.com. Japanese and European cars use "negative" trigger usually. You have to know the target - "negative", "positive" or in your case, both negative and positive. American cars like to use both. The one-page instruction shows your case.

A
  • I put this system on my Camry. It unlocks all of the doors at once as well as locks them.

Q

will this work on a 2005 Chevy Cobalt LT that has a bad receiver ?

A
  • If your car has central locking (all locks activated by one button) and the central locking works then this will work.

Q

Can a larger siren be installed on this unit? would i need additional parts? do you have the experiment i would want? i am trying to arm my garage,

A
  • You say "larger siren". No siren is included with this remote trigger. In fact I don't believe the unit knows whether it is armed or not. It is simply a trigger mechanism. I might recommend an actual alarm for your use. Also remember most homes do not run on 12v DC power like a car.

It is completely agnostic and can be made to work in just about any vehicle ever made (as long as that vehicle has a 12V electrical system and power locks). It is essentially just a multi-channel remote-controlled relay. People complain about the lack of a wiring diagram when they review this product. Honestly, I do not understand this gripe - the wiring diagram that comes with it is all the information you should need. It tells you what each wire does. You just have to familiarize yourself with the wiring in your vehicle so you know where to connect. I've mentioned before two pitfalls. First, go to the auto parts store and get a basic, inexpensive inline fuse holder instead of using the one that comes with this unit - because it's garbage. I'd bet money the included fuse holder is very likely the cause of a number of complaints about the thing dying after a couple weeks - because mine stopped working after just a few hours. Second, if your car has an OEM security system or engine immobilizer system, this unit MAY cause problems with that. The best way I know to find out is to lock the car from the outside (with the key) and then unlock the doors using the interior button. If the alarm sounds or if the engine won't start after doing this you're going to have some additional challenges getting this system to work on your vehicle. see less

I saw a lot of reviews before buying this that people said the remote didn't have a very long range and that the instructions are bad. While these are mostly true, I don't need a very long range nor do I expect it under $20, and yes, the instructions are garbage, they couldn't be any less helpful. With that being said, a quick search online or in these reviews or just spending some time probing the wires, you can easily figure out what wire does what. Again, this is under $20 and it does what it advertises, so don't pay too much attention to people being super critical of this product, it is indeed worth the money.

Like what others have said, the diagrams for negative and positive central locking are reversed, so definitely be on the lookout for that. Check your mechanics manual or online forums to confirm what it should be for your make and model. Separate from that, this keyless entry device gets confused if you push the factory lock controls. The only way to “reset” it is if you “unconfuse” it by using the factory lock controls to put the car back to the device’s last known state. For example, if you last locked the car with the remote and then you opened the door with your key, the device will not let you re-lock or unlock the door using the remote. You will have to manually switch your car doors back to locked so the lock position is again synced with the device’s state, and then you can unlock via the remote. No trunk release or horn honk, so you get what you pay for. Or not pay for. Minus one star for the bad wiring diagrams. If the manufacturer cared, they would have fixed it by now seeing as some of the reviews mentioning misprint were from years ago. That said, for about $17 after tax, it gets the job done. Just don’t expect any support from the manufacturer and plan to figure out everything yourself.

As mentioned in most of the reviews the instructions are useless. but the wiring diagram, test light, volt meter and basic 12 volt experience is all that is needed to install the unit. As also mentioned the unit will only work if you keep the lock unlock cycle, if you lock the door with the switch it will not unlock the doors until you lock them with the remote and it will not unlock the doors unless you lock them with the remote. I opted to add a relay and honk the horn instead of flashing the lights. For the price it seems like a fair unit.It took about 30 minuets to install in a 2018 Chevy work van

Thank you to all the reviewers who told what they did to get it to work. I couldn't find anywhere that said if a gbody or 5th generation El Camino had a negative or positive trigger. Some people said no relay needed but I just connected the common to the switch in and the "NO" *Normally Opened" to the 12 volt and it now triggers the door lock relay. What finally worked for my 1982 El Camino was: Behind the passenger kick panel is the door lock relay. Wires to work are: Car -> Keyless unit's harness Orang/Black -> Red, Yellow and Yellow Black light blue -> white black -> white/black Ground -> Black I guess according to the diagram, that makes my car a negative trigger. I didn't use any other cables and I left the unit on the passenger side up behind the dash by the side of the glove box. It works as other reviewers said. You have to hit lock and then unlock for it to unlock the doors if you locked them with the door switch, but it's no issue. w
