Works pretty good, looks nice. Heads up to anyone with a three cylinder car like a geo metro or chevy sprint, there is a potentiometer on the circuit board which allows enough adjustment of the resistance to make this read properly for a three cylinder car. If you have access to a scope and square wave generator and other cool equipment you can dial it in precise although the POT is a bit touchy. If you just want it roughly close then put it in 6 cylinder mode and hook up to your car, get someone with a steady foot to rev the engine until the gauge reads 1500 (which should be 3000 RPM on your 3 cylinder) then switch it for 4 cylinder mode and adjust the POT until the gauge shows 3000 RPM. Full disclaimer that is just an idea for those without the fancy equipment my electrical engineering friend had, we went the cope+square wave generator route.

Gauge worked on the first try, ran the green wire to tach output off the coil on a 350 TBI. It won't read any rpm until the engine is actually running, not sure if that's my truck or the gauge.. But it seems to react reasonably quick and read accurately. The gauge pod is very cheap though and mine was missing the back side of the nut, so I had to drill it out and make a new nut/bolt... But still a cheap way to add a tach to a truck. Update, now that i wired the LED backlight, it is bright for nightime use. I wired mine to a switch so I can turn it on and off. Also you can combine the two black negative leads (one for the tach and one for the LED) at the same spot, works fine and makes wiring a bit easier

bought this for my 1 cylinder go kart engine. checked it with a laser tach i verified against my car (was less than 25 rpm off) and in 4 cylinder mode it seems fairly accurate at idle and redline, less than 100 rpm difference each. i bought a pack of resistors because i thought i would have to make it more accurate
