Find YouTube video "Cheap Cell Capacity Tester". On the upper right are a set of led's - V, Ah, Hour, Work. The test ends on V, and you can switch to Ah and Hour with corresponding led lit. Ah will be shown as 0.50 for a 500 mAh cell, and 2.50 for a 2500 mAh cell.

No, you must charge them first. That being said, it would be interesting to swap out the battery holder with a battery charger.

I have had mine now for over a year. I use it regularly to discharge test 18650 batteries. I buy a lot of them, because I make battery packs. I always want to know how good the battery is that I purchased, so I fully charge and discharge them three times, as you break them in the capacity will go up. It has saved me a few times, when checking batteries that I purchased. They may show 3000 MAH on the battery, but when tested they come back with 1000 mah, then you can bet your batteries are not what they claim and I have returned batteries because of it. I would recommend this tester to a friend. Oh, and the battery cradle that comes with it is well made and very useful.

This thing rocks. Does exactly what I need from it. I had access to 100+ old laptop battery packs. I ripped them apart and used this thing to test capacity to build incredibly capable packs for free. Its quite accurate and compares well to other methods I've used. People complain about the instructions being written in Mandarin..... I don't get it. You don't need instructions. The text on the board itself is written in English.... and there are 4 buttons.... 4! Its not rocket science. I never bothered translating the instructions. Figuring this thing out on my first cell was trivial. Yeah, you can translate the instructions if you want. The folks complaining about the instructions probably should be staying away from electricity in general. It's a logical layout and great tool for reasonable price. This thing is my go-to now. I'm purchasing several more.

Great discharge tester for Li-ion batteries, I am using it specifically for 18650 batteries and it works perfectly. It seems accurate also, I have a digital charger that tracks how many mah were put into the battery during charging and those numbers match up well with what this device is reporting for discharge. Also... it will dump a 2500mah battery in about 45mins at the 3a discharge if you are trying to get a couple of cycles in or testing a new batch of batteries. The specs say that the fan kicks in at 60c, it seemed to kick on at about 35c by my estimates and the heat sink stays at 30c (~80f) during the entire test. Maybe the MOFSET underneath is actually kicking up to 60c, I was testing the temperature of the center of the heat sink.

This digital battery cell checker in its raw form is one of the best testers I've ever had. I can test all kinds of single cell batteries of many types. It seems to be very very accurate in its testing of batteries even retesting the same battery's give exactly the same results. I am very happy with this battery checker and I'm giving it 5 stars even though it's a raw chassis.
